New Bourbon Thread: Bourbon Trail

I guess they stopped making Yippee Ka Yay and made Campfire a Utah exclusive. Maybe it wasn't selling as well as they'd have liked it to but I liked it as scotch was my gateway spirit and still drink a lot more of it vs. Bourbon / Rye.

 

We had some at Red Phone Booth in Nashville last month and I think it was like 45-50 for a pour.

 

I feel like campfire is the one that's easy to find. That and double rye. Bourye and Yippee Ki Yay are impossible to find and MWND.

 

There were quite a few people on the local Facebook group who went out and bought campfire as it was being pulled from distribution. Rest of the regular HW portfolio is pretty easy to find. I have a couple bottles of MWND from last year and the year before but haven't seen this year's batch around here.

It used to be easy to find and I think it sat in the shelves a bit due to it's unusual profile.

I see Bourye being available at a store not too far from me for 70$

 

I've never seen Bourye in the wild. $70 is pretty reasonable considering secondary pricing I've seen.

~$20 over MSRP, I really liked the 2019 but NYGator likes the 2020 and 2021 offerings.

Someone asked about blue note recently in the thread. I picked up a bottle today and it is pretty good. $30 but only says aged at least 3 years. I didn’t think it tasted overly young, but could be something to keep an eye on overtime.

Picked up an Eagle Rare store pick today. Haven’t had ER in a while.

 

Be careful with that BT SP. Drinks far to easy that I have to question each morning after how the bottle sprung a leak.

I have a store pick of Old Elk from last year that might be one of my favorite bottles from 2020.

 

Opened the Armida up, kinda disappointed but I knew what it was going in. It will be a pour for friends coming over that like the fruity ones

There was a line 20 people deep last week in Marietta, OH and I assumed it was for blanton's/ER, but no. Everyone ran for the crown peach. I'm talking old ass farmers in trump hats, too

I'm sure it's delicious, especially mixed with iced tea, but there's like 10 whiskey manufacturers that make a peach whiskey

I'm going to be in Birmingham this weekend. Are there any good bourbon stores that I should hit up? I'm guessing Birmingham bourbon stores won't have any allocated stuff or if they do it will be all sold out or will have ridiculous secondary market style pricing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

the Beam version is better IMO

 

I would have never guessed a man of your esteemed palate has tried not just one but multiple such peach whiskeys to be able to compare.
