Had Pfizer #1 uploaded into me this morning. Arm bled like crazy which I assume means I’m getting extra 5G from Bill Gates.
No clue, that’s the first time it’s ever happened with a vaccine. Pretty sure I scared the guy to death. I feel fine though.
I actually bled a decent amount as well when I got my first shot. Didn’t notice it until I took the bandaid off, but definitely more than normal.
What % of the population are immunocompromised? They can't continue masking and taking the same precautions they are now?
Oh I don’t know...maybe a tablespoon or two? Enough to where it was dripping down my arm but not enough to cause alarm (I don’t think).
More than 4% of adults. Masks don't protect the wearer and those people deserve a good life as much as you or I. I think the point is: stop focusing on how this can selfishly benefit you personally, and instead realize that this news about the vaccine will drive down cases and spread considerably from today. Once that happens, restrictions can lift. Let the viral community spread determine our actions on policy. This is great news. But not because we can stop wearing masks and have zero restrictions once some adults have a chance to be vaccinated, but because spread will be driven down considerably, and therefore cases should be driven way down.
I doubt this. Also, I'm not looking to benefit personally, I'm looking to punish people who opt out of getting vaccinated.
I know how much a tbsp is. I don’t know exactly how much blood there was I was just trying to paint a picture. Somewhere between a tsp and tbsp is probably more accurate.
Not to mention that the more people who refuse vaccination will result in: 1. Longer times we have to keep dealing with outbreaks. 2. More economic impacts (mostly negative). 3. Higher incidences of health issues (and more health spending). 4. More frequent boosters among those who choose vaccination.
You doubt what about masks? I have myself looked at the data. Short of an N95, it's not helping that much, and this was before variants emerged. There are a hell of a lot better ways to punish morons. I am fully supportive of that.
i am going to attempt to translate for fuzzy here but i believe he is saying that by summer that 4% will have had plenty of time and opportunity to get vaccinated so if they don't, they're the ones taking the risk
good info but you are missing one key point. This is why we should open things late in the summer once the vaccine passport system has been set up and deny these people access to basically anything. Disney? Nope. Movies? Nope. Sporting events? Nope. How many anti-vax Alabama fans would be 1st in line to get a vaccine if it was required to attend a game and they could afford to go? How many of those 26% are true hardliners? 5%? 10%? That other 15-20% can be forced without being forced by removing their access to the fun things that almost all people enjoy in society so the rest of us can live a somewhat normal life.
Set up mobile vax hot spots and give drunk year olds J&J shots as they come out of bars. It’s going to be young people that keep this fucking pandemic going because they feel the least effected
Moderna number 2 tomorrow morning. Should be a fun 24-48 hours after the fact. I have some health issues so I’m expecting either nothing or to get it really bad. My girlfriend is getting it Friday so hopefully I’m feeling better but Friday evening if I have a reaction.
or require them to go to concerts or fly on airplanes. Or create major barriers of entry for those events (2 tests in a week and questioning at the airport that’s very intrusive for example) so that they just get the shot. Make it like the TSA precheck for frequent flyers at busy airports. A no brainer for anyone that isn’t a hardline anti-vax psycho
getting that system set up is going to be time consuming and likely there will be court battles all over the place. You can start tricking drunk 20 somethings tomorrow
If masking doesn't help the wearer, why have vaccinated people wear them? We now know the vaccine prevents infection.
There are several reasons, 1) vaccines aren't 100% effective, 2) conclusive studies haven't been done to show vaccinated people cannot spread the virus (this is looking promising though), 3) you can't tell who is vaccinated and who isn't in any group setting where you don't know everyone that is there. There's a reason the CDC said groups of vaccinated people can meet indoors without masks but not in a large group setting.
I desperately hope this is what is going to happen for anyone to participate in a big event, but I'm very pessimistic you'll see this for things like SEC football events or movie theater chains. The only inkling I've seen of anything is possibly airlines in the US requiring this and some big state universities requiring students who are healthy to be vaccinated.
They are 100 percent effective across the board at keeping people out of the hospital. From a public policy perspective, this should be all we care about. Again, we know the vaccine prevents infection, but somehow uninfected people will spread the virus? Come on.
No. That’s not how herd immunity works. We need to convince half of those morons to get it. Through science, incentives, and shaming.
which is why people should be required to get the vaccine. States can force people to get a vaccine that’s been upheld in courts. The easiest way to do it quickly though is to deny non-vaccinated people (once anyone can get it) access to any businesses. It’s not that difficult to do.
the vaccine is 90-95% effective. Having had covid is 40-45% effective at preventing another infection. Probably less with some of the new strains. Having covid isn’t how you get herd immunity for covid. Vaccines are.
10% of the vaccinated people will become infected. They may stay out of the hospital but it doesn't mean they won't spread it to people who have not been vaccinated.
Based on the latest data from Washington State, .008% (100 out of 1.2 million) people will become infected.
we now know this as of when? policy changes don't move that fast. and also because, again, people LIE like mother fuckers about their vaccination status. this mask information isn't new. i am appalled we are still explaining it.
I mean....that's just two days ago and it's still just sharing when the findings are leaning. Nothing is established as far as policy nor should it that quickly.
Holy crap man, are you seriously asking for state and national policy decisions on information from 2 days ago that was dumbed the fuck down for lay people like you to encourage vaccinations? I'm going to start turning into an asshole again, so the board whiners better watch out.
