Cohn is even worse than Silver when playing political pundit, but he usually doesn't try to do so very often. They're also completely missing the point in the recent Georgia law, which is that the GOP controlled state legislature can appoint a new superintendent of elections in a county if they feel there's enough "irregularities." That alone is what most people are concerned about in terms of completely invalidating an election.

Yep they were able to get that in there to try and challenge the legitimacy of the results. It would probably be a messy court battle but they would have at least codified this into law and probably think the Supreme Court would back them.
There is a reason the GOP is only talking "Water and ID's" everything else in the bill is the real damning stuff.
It makes sense for the GOP to keep the focus on the "reasonable" stuff like ID and food/water but you would think the non-RWNJ news outlets would touch on the ability for the state legislature to throw out votes on a whim and, at least to my knowledge, they really aren't.

He’s not wrong about NY. If NY had a close presidential or even senate race it would be an unmitigated disaster. The only thing keeping New York’s issues at bay is the fact that republicans just can’t win. I read an article a few months back about how corrupt elections are in NY. Everyone hires friends and unqualified people for these jobs and they waste money and fuck everything up. democrats shouldn’t hide from the fact that NY needs federal election laws as badly as the corrupt states under republican control. It makes their case even stronger. Don’t wait until NY has a close election to fix what is so obviously a broken system.
