This glass remains the very best giveaway I’ve ever received at an nd sporting event. Celebrating the w
Gavin Wimsatt commits to Buttgers Really bad QB eval cycle by Rees this year. Gotta go get Dante Moore next year.
also I didn’t want the QB ND got but we have to wait and judge this one later curious how Allar vs Angeli will end up
I haven’t really been enamored with any of the QBs this class which is why I was fine with Angeli. I am sure Allar and Wimsat will be studs because I am very bad at evaluating QBs
I think he’s just way overrated. ND is the best offer he ever got by far. I was never impressed by his film
That’s not a hot take. Anyone not named Pete Sampson knew it was Ian Book that put a ceiling on the offense.
ooof that's not something you put on the record. won't be the sausage king for long with that eye for (non) talent
Never bet on a Coug. I’m bummed that Will Derting never got a crack in the league because of his injuries.
I too fell for the upside vs ceiling argument and through Manning had a higher floor and lower ceiling. Still too soon to say who was right and who was wrong...
My cousin got to be buddies with one of the assistant S & C guys who has now moved on to SC, he gave a my cuz all his barely/not worn practice and game day gear. A good portion trickled down to me. I think I should gear up and try to sneak into practice.
Update from Loy. Wesolak no longer being pursued Spoiler Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Prep four-star cornerback Keenan Nelson Jr. is a terrific talent, but he’s lower on the Notre Dame board than a few other players at his position. To be completely honest, I expect Notre Dame to secure its list of defensive back commits before it would need to push hard to land Nelson, the No. 113 overall player this cycle. SLIDE 2 of 5 Next up is Boonville (Mo.) high school four-star defensive end DJ Wesolak. From what I’ve gathered, defensive end Darren Agu has secured this spot as of today. Things could change down the road, especially if another defensive line spot opens up, but I don’t see the Fighting Irish doing more than keeping tabs with Wesolak moving forward. SLIDE 3 of 5 Another name being removed is Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou four-star linebacker / defensive end Tevarua Tafiti. He was being recruited for the same position as Darren Agu, so with Agu jumping on board, it looks like that’ll be the end of Notre Dame’s pursuit at this time. Again, we’ll see if anything changes, but I don’t expect to add the Top247 talent’s name to the board again. SLIDE 4 of 5 I’m going to remove West Bloomfield (Mich.) high school four-star defensive back Dillon Tatum from the board as well. The super-talented two-way prospect seems to be really high on Michigan and Michigan State. Notre Dame recruited him as a running back initially and then moved him to the defensive side of the ball later in the process, but neither side seemed to have too much interest. SLIDE 5 of 5 68COMMENTS It seems like a good time to go ahead and remove Rockwall (Texas) Heath high school three-star receiver Jay Fair from the target board. Notre Dame was a little late to the party and never really made a strong push to secure his commitment. At this point, just cut and dry, I don’t see Notre Dame pushing to land him and I’m not sure he’s all that interested in the Irish at this point either.
I like Wesolak, but this is OK. It really sounds like Agu's upside is insane and with the way DL recruiting has gone, giving him that spot and rolling the dice on a potential future game changer is probably the way to go. I can't believe after the Weis, Willingham and early Kelly years that DE recruiting is literally one of the things I worry about the least. All hail Mike Elston.
I'm curious what his pay bump was like, Purdue blows but they will spend so if they were really sniffing around him as DC I'm guessing his recruiting coordinator spot came with a major pay increase.
From what I remember them saying on II podcast was that Elston was more able/likely to be a taskmaster and hold the staff accountable in recruiting than Polian. Plus rounding out the resume probably helps more too than taking a coordinator job too. His insight on running a program will be more important than calling plays. Sure when you are a coordinator you can point to success on that side of the ball, but if he gets interviews he would have a pretty compelling background for being a head coach.
Gobaira was a monster again this past weekend...at least a couple of sacks and TFLs in a shutout playoff victory
I'll be interested in camps since some states will have a spring season, summer camps then prep for a fall season. Could have to the opposite effect of last year where they had months to train before arriving due to lack of a season.
ND has announced already that we won’t be having any camps on campus this summer, so I will be very interested to see how this all plays out
you know, i just heard something on the II podcast that blew my mind. Sampson said he thought Wesolak was a better player than Agu simply because ND offered him earlier. That's something I'd expect a dumb off the street ND fan say. Sure they offered the kid from Missouri first who had a great tape and had been building a relationship with over the last few months before that over the kid they (and no else) had ever heard of because he literally came to the US in August of 2020 during the pandemic and had literally never played 11 vs 11 football before. There's no doubt that Wesolak is a better player right now but neither of those guys will play for ND till really 2023. I was all aboard the Wesolak train until I saw Agu and could see what he could be in 2 to 3 years. With Ford and Gobaira (both belong in the top 100) already in the fold, I'd take the first round ceiling of Agu over Wesolak, but really, I'd love to have both. It's a great great problem to have though just like at LB.
Kelly has mentioned putting early enrollees into bigger situations in the spring and also, Patterson is going to start. Even considering that, should people be upset when we get elite prospects and they start? I know it is the OL but Fisher is the best OL prospect ND has signed since Nelson even though they have signed a lot of good ppl.
