If he makes it all the way through a full MLB season as a platoon LF and has a wRC+ anywhere near 100 it would be a minor miracle. The kid has 140 games above rookie ball and hadn't played a game that counted in almost 2 years before opening day. He's already shown 5x the ability of Victor Reyes, and he's somehow in year four with the club.
Our bullpen was the only reason we weren't the worst team in the league last year. This season our bullpen seems to be on a mission to right that wrong, even if we still won tonight.
I just keep seeing people compare him to Chris Shelton as a cautionary tale and Chris Shelton hit 34 homers with a .280 BA and around a .200 ISO over two seasons. If he was anything close to Shelton I would be overjoyed.
Shelton was also a 1B only, which meant he had to hit at a very high level to hang around. Baddoo is a LF who might be able to play CF if the arm is good enough. He still needs to hit long term, but the path to being useful if he's just average hitter is easier.
