I would have loved to have overheard the discussions on building this year’s roster. I bet it went something like, “Let’s just plan on everything going the same as last year when everything went about as good as possible.”
Yes cut Smyly and replace him with duvall, melancon and another reliever and this team is a lot better.
Think Smyly can be effective out of the pen. Seems pretty good the first time he faces a lineup. I'd give him a shot in an Andrew Miller role.
Max hitting better than 7 regulars in our lineup. Unfortunately, he also forgot how to pitch. Must have just trained batting all off season.
arguably the best player on the planet locked down for like $10m a year and we were too cheap to sign duvy for $5m. not even remotely a serious franchise.
you could argue that we win the title* last year if duvy doesn’t get hurt and we still cheaped out on signing him clown car franchise
Phantom IR stint incoming. He needs it though,14 earned runs in 11 innings isn't my favorite as a Braves fan.
I do not understand spending the money to resign Ozuna and then deciding to not do anything else and ultimately end up with a worse roster than last year.
Yeah, it's tough when you think of it like this: Who we didn't sign: Adam Duvall: $2M Mark Melancon: $3M Darren O'Day: $1.75M Who we signed: Drew Smyly: $11M
it shouldnt even be an either/or situation. if this was a serious franchise and not a commercial real estate operation, we woulda been able to pay that whopping $7m extra to bring those three back too not. a. serious. franchise.
looks like smyly is going to be a valuable signing because our other pitchers’ heads are falling off. absolutely criminal they seemingly didn’t try to bring Duvall or Melancon back
Going to be disappointing when we dont find the money for freddie but im already preparing myself for it
gosh you gotta think glavine and smoltz and maddux woulda had pretty long and accomplished careers if only they didnt have to jog on occasion. three careers lost
i agree i too think its radical and frankly insane to ask a professional athlete to occasionally have to jog a little bit
Exactly. He should just be expected to jog to back up the catcher and walk off the mound to the dugout.
if he can't field a bunt without walking to the ball, it should be an automatic out in the name of pitcher safety
until i see him up, i will continue to believe this cheap franchise is trying to manipulate his service time just to save like $24.87 on their at best #4 starter long term
