    Fisher, Patterson, Corral, Spindler, Lugg
LT, LG, C, RG, RT is my guess how this ends

id flip patterson and fisher for sure, also think we shouldnt rule out gibbons or baker (or maybe one of Kristofic or Carrol?)

If Fisher is good enough to beat out Patterson and Baker at LT he’s the most advanced ol I can remember.

ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE AND IF JARRETT PATTERSON COULD POTENTIALLY PLAY GUARD
"The offensive line is is one where we know Fisher, we know Baker, we pretty much made a decision that Carmody — those guys are staying out of tackle. Jarrett, we're not we're sure until we get him back, whether he is a tackle, and then we move Lugg to guard, is he a guard and then Lugg stays out at tackle. We think Zeke's one of our five, so he's the center because if you want to get your five best, we want to leave an open mind to whether it's guard or tackle to kind of go back to answering that original question of getting the best five on the field. What we're doing is we're saying all right, Jarrett is the guard right now, what's our best five, Jarrett is the tackle, who's the best five. So, this is kind of like a game that we're playing right now in spring to see what's the best five when Patterson comes back, is it guard or is it tackle. He can play anywhere right now because he is not playing, but the fact of the matter is, once he gets back, then we'll start to figure out where his comfort level is and where he makes us the best five."

Kelly makes it seem like Baker, Fisher, Carmody, and Lugg are all tackles

Patterson we know can play and excel inside so let him line up next to the weakest tackle

Does Gibbons or Spindler start then is the question?

We've been so spoiled on the offensive line for the last decade. I'm scared to see how our fanbase would react if we just had to settle for an "above average" offensive line this year.

this year id take above average if guys like spindler and fisher are the ones starting

I feel Patterson was great last year and will be great this year, regardless of what position he will play. Correll will be fine as well i think. I think you can hide away 2 weaker players, but not 3

i would not be opposed to letting the younger guys with a higher sealing take their lumps this year to be more comfortable for the next few years. The schedule sets up nicely for a good year anyway but this team imho can’t compete to win it all this year so why not try the young guys to be set for 2022 and 2023

I liked the idea I heard on one of the podcasts of doing what they did back when Hainsey and Kramer were TFR and RFr and rotating them. Have Fisher and Blake both play. Let Patterson take other tackle spot. Gibbons, Lugg and Spindler rotate at Gs

Lou Somogyi passed away of an apparent heart attack. That sucks. There have been plenty ND beat writers that I've enjoyed and plenty I haven't, but he was one of the best and most professional. I loved listening to him tell stories on the B&G pods.

One of the best journalists that was on the ND beat. I’ve dropped a lot of turds to the words of that man—back to the B&G newspapers. Recently someone had asked him if he had plans to write a book to which he answered:

“I'm actually contemplating putting together a coffee table type of book later this year because it marks the 100th anniversary of when Notre Dame players began to wear jersey numbers (1921). It would be an encyclopedia of every player who donned the number, 1 through 99, with a Gold, Silver and Bronze on who were the top three. That's a pretty tedious endeavor, though, and I have a terrible fear of omitting somebody among the thousands who have suited up here.

Otherwise, though, probably not. There have been so many Notre Dame books that have saturated the market that I don't think I can offer anything really unique. How many times can the usual "save Jimmy Johnson's ass for me" stories be rehashed?

The "Talking Irish" book by Steve Delsohn released about 15 years ago was really good and unique in that it was first-person accounts from individuals — players, coaches and even administrators such as Father Hesburgh, Father Joyce — that were blunt and candid.

Thank you for your interest and support.”

    Sad story.

This quote sums up the type of guy he seemed to be very well.

Everyone who knows ND football would be excited to read something that documents the history of the program as thoroughly as only Lou could do, and yet his humility told him that his efforts would be misplaced. He always seemed to have a little bit of a funny way about him, but he came off as genuine and just appreciative that he was working a gig doing what he loved. O’Malley is one of the few others where that pure joy comes through.

Having met him a few times, I can vouch that the guys brain worked like a super computer. He could tell you the time left in the quarter of the first score of some fringe game from 1982. Or who the third string punt returner was in 1998. ESPN used to contact him regularly for fringe information whenever they were covering our games or wanted a segment for Gameday.

He was always the best writer the ND beat had in terms of providing perspective and the big picture. Will miss that analysis quite a bit. Was also just as nice a guy as everyone is claiming on social media.

So true, he would call a letdown game 3 weeks before it happens and just let us know that he learned about these letdown games when he was 15 and Nd was up 17-14 in the third quarter on purdue but something was just off that day and he could feel the energy.

He had the big picture figured out way better than all the other guys.
