Depends on how you define "real money" $14 into $800 is a good ROI imo. If you get into it, just ignore the articles about someone selling a moment for 100k+. You'd basically have to get really lucky and pull something insane. But it's real easy to make several hundred to a couple thousand just off buying and flipping packs
It’s a balance that will keep going back snd forth. As less complete and the rewards become rarer, it will become more pricier and make the challenge worth it. Most now though are a losing proposition. The last MGLE for Booker was a net positive since he had less than 150 completions. When 65% + complete though, it’s probably not going to ever be worth it. The only way to make a lot of money now is to either complete a Challenge and get a #1 or jersey serial # or get lucky in a Legendary pack.
Paper hands. Learned my lesson real quick. Sold my Randle CC for like $125. 2 days later, it got up to almost $900..doubt that ever happens again
It’s an interesting way to drive volatility and churn in the market. If I’m sitting on a card like that and not planning to complete the challenge it’s kind of a no brainer to sell.
Yeah I'm torn, I'm thinking about just clearing out my $5 cards, idk if its better to just dump it now or waste time watching the price to scrape out $10 more dollars... prob not.
imo nba topshot is just heading the way of normal sports cards get off your scrub cards before they become basically worthless
I'm in the red, having bought a couple expensive moments on speculation when I got in.. I'm just going to hold those forever at this point and hope they climb back, and I'll continue to hope to get lucky on pack drops. Even on shorty packs you can usually get your money back and make a little profit.
This is what I do. It's not worth it to have it sit there for 5 days for an extra $3-4, and it's even less after the 5% fee Edit: I'd keep like 3-5 cheapies incase they make you have a requirement going forward to get additional packs
The rumor was there will be 3-4 bonus cool cats that will only go to people who completed the challenges organically as opposed to buying them cheaply after the challenges ended. It’d be fucked up, but who knows at this point.
This is pretty optimistic but I’d assume you haven’t been consistently burned by Top Shot management decisions since January
In 2020-2021 our nation became even more about acquiring resources. The powers that be have re-skinned the same old market dynamics in formats palatable to Millennials and Gen Z... crypto, NFTs, meme stocks, stock slices, etc There is no joy in a society built upon a zero sum game.
So I bought a legendary /99 Collin Sexton earlier this week for 1274, trying out the 1k triggering KYC verification idea (worked by the way). Just checked and it's up 300 or so, maybe more like 400 based on serial. Sweating whether I sell now or hope for the moon. I previously had a 1k Immanuel Quickley that promptly dropped 70%
I don't see a giant influx of people buying these moments that would cause a moon. I think your risk is higher than your reward as new legendary moments get minted
we’re in such a lull with the NBA right now, holding till playoffs ramp up with more eyeballs and promotion for TS and see what happens.
Hold until the Challenge is announced using it, time it right to sell then buy back after the challenge is over. I personally think these Holos are the most likely to keep up some value as time progresses. The second group that just came out seem to all be underpriced a bit considering they still have reward utility.
That's where I'm at. I got my stuff listed high based on current ask, but I think it'll get hot once it gets to award/post season
If you have deposited $1K then you should definitely be close. I am assuming that you have had to done that to get to 200 moments. If that’s the case then I would open a ticket. They have been responding more quickly than before with more customer service reps. When they shut down my account from buying, I was able to get it resolved in less than a week.
https://toppsmlb.com/shop Anyone else dipping their toe in? There's a free pack with 1 card in it to claim if any are left.
Wax already has a marketplace so folks are selling their giveaway packs already. $10 for the one from today, looks like 45-50 for the opening day pack.
grabbed a pack. Tried to grab another one just to make sure I got it and it said users could only get one pack and I already had one. Then saw this
There were only a certain number. They don't officially "start" until tomorrow when the base/promo packs go live.
I’ll try to snag a Premium pack tomorrow but I’ve been disappointed in the Wax experience so far with Street Fighter and Godzilla. Godzilla looks like it was thrown together by some middle school kids. Street Fighter isn’t much better.
Anybody buying or selling the public auctions on Panini's site? They've got multiple sports up for blockchain cards
Thought my computer was glitching for a second, but nope, 3 of my 5 cards in the opening day pack were the same Clayton Kershaw base.
