This. Panini doesn't have the license so Donruss is very meh. They created a bunch of variations and parallels to keep it interesting but it's not worth it. I might try Select baseball this year.
I wish I had a connection to product so I could be a breaker. I would only need to know like 10 words. Bro, Fire, Sick, sweet, pull, banger, card, damn, rookie, Rip.
If one of them ever puts out a YouTube clip showing how they grade and how strict they are, the others would either step up or be out of business. Otherwise it seems like they just eyeball stuff and put it on a slab
I'll give them credit for trying a little harder then Leaf. Leaf making that unlicensed college football with Trevor Lawrence on the box and he didn't sign anything for them is a bad look.
I mainly collect football but I’ll buy baseball if that’s all available. Heritage is one that I seem to always find and I really don’t like buying it because I have trouble finding the sp’s in the product. They all look the same to me.
I love donruss. The numbered cards, colors and parallels. But something about no logos screams leaf to me.
The last three - four numbers on the bottom of the back of the card will tell you if something is different.
For Heritage cards 400-500 are the short printed ones. The shirt printed variations are turned around in the pack. I believe somewhere on the back, I think to the top left near the card number, it will tell you what variation it is as well.
Also I discovered the Purples I got were a part of a hot box, not just a walmart thing. Walmart has the candy top inserts and target has the die cut inserts.
How much do football cards cost now (retail)? I mainly collect 80's football cards but wouldn't mind getting some modern stuff.
This is kind of where I’m at. I like the inserts in donruss, but not having team logos is pretty lame. Heritage just seems so bland and hard to pull anything but base cards though.
What is the first big, licensed football card release typically? First meaning after draft is settled and players are with their new teams? I can't get football or basketball cards at all in my city right now, feels like it'll only get crazier with this incoming NFL class
I’ve given up trying. I’ll stick to baseball cards. The hobby packs are atleast affordable, and you can actually find retail on the shelf.
Talked to a friend last night who got into the hobby a few months back. He said that he randomly stumbled across two Prizm Football blasters at Target one night. He went back a few days later and there were 2 high school-aged kids loitering around the section so he asked if there were some boxes in the back or something. They said that they were waiting for the vendor and that they have a group of friends that camp out and take turns at the various Wal Marts and Targets in town. If you have a job, family, or life there is no hope in retail blasters anymore. Buying singles is really the only way to go now.
My local target had a sign saying they'll only release cards Friday morning now, so after I dropped my kid at daycare Friday I swung by on the way to work and there was a line 20 deep, with 6-7 elementary age kids in it as well standing with their parents. I just kept on driving.
Was just browsing through eBay listings trying to find steals on Select retail and I came across a listing for cello packs at $35 a piece. Thinking this was some scam I went to investigate the description and within 30 seconds of saying “fuck it” and adding all 8 to my cart they were gone.
I believe Origins is usually the first release with the players in their pro uniforms, but it's notorious for using photoshopped players in "00" numbered uniforms if their number hasn't been determined yet. Prestige comes out beforehand and will have the players in their college uniforms but have their pro teams logo on the card.
LiveCaseBreak owner arrested for fucking a kid. https://www.wwnytv.com/2021/04/15/canton-man-accused-sex-with-underage-victim/
Went to the new local card store today to look around and ended up buying a tribute box. Got a signed frank thomas and Vlad Jr.
got the cards back from that National Treasures break. Not pictured is a JK Dobbins blockchain redemption. any idea on how to find values for the 4 above? I want to sell 1 or 2, but no exact matches on eBay and Beckett hasn't priced them yet.
Yea I have to hand it to Panini that's one of the coolest cards I've seen, and definitely the best looking patch.
So they are going to use machines to grade now too? Man that would send the PSA fan boys into a tizzy.
I fucking hate topps.com I was trying to get one of the F1 Topps Chrome and they were sold out before I could even add one to my cart. Was at LCS today and they're going to have them for $650, they were $299 on .com
I would like to think Target limiting folks buying would help calm the secondary market but I'm sure the resellers will figure out a way.
Anyone that's struggling to find any cards but is jonesing for something, I can't recommend the Loupe app enough. There will be a slight overpay for shipping + fees, but it's fun if you find the right sellers.
Came across some heritage blasters at Target tonight. Not my favorite but oh well. Got die cuts of Acuna and Luis Robert. Some sort of red numbered refractor of Tatis. Not too exciting
