Ive gotten two in the past year....one from a store in Indiana and one from a store in WV....both were fucking delicious and an incredible deal IMO.
Or if I can find one. The regular barrel proof dried up here. Was everywhere for $59, went up a few dollars, then disappeared.
Knob creek doesn’t get a lot of love on here ( or hate) but I picked up this bottle of single barrel reserve 9 yr for $48 and it’s great! I previously bought the KC single barrel rye and loved that
pretty much the same in the Raleigh area. Price went up to $70 this year. I do have a honey hole in a more rural part of the state but availability is still iffy.
What was your campus bourbon mixer? Oxford loved the Crow. I drank ungodly amounts of Crow and diet in college- it took me 10 years to recover from and come back to brown liquor
Couldn't drink or even smell whiskey until I was in my early 30's because I had a bad experience when I was 14. 3/4 of a bottle of Johnny Black at 90 pounds will do that to you. It also probably should of killed me but just a blackout and two day hangover.
I was the same, had a bad experience with Jack Daniels at 17. Could drink scotch but the thought of bourbon made me sick.
Binge drinking is a stupid, deadly lifestyle, and one that many of us were young and stupid enough to engage in. Goes without saying, but I just said it, so
What I really enjoy about bourbon is the appreciation for a process that unfolds and evolves over years. Goes in hot clear corn whiskey, comes out sweet brown bourbon in a process that can’t be rushed. That’s pretty cool to me
glad I had my bad drinking experience with Jager and not the brown. Although Evan green label turned me off for awhile.
I passed up on the batch 52 because I still have an unopened batch 44 - did I make a mistake? Also, back to the college discussion - we used to run through handles of Evan green label. Probably why it took me until I was 30 to get back into brown water.
Not sure as I haven't opened, just hard to get around here so I grab whatever I can get as all others I've had were good
I gotcha - hope you enjoy. The U/U has been tough to find around here, too. I've really been enjoying their small batch, and to a lesser extent their straight. Need to open my batch 44 soon.
I finally spoke to the liquor store and they are looking into smoke wagon, four roses, eagle rare, and Russells reserve. He also mentioned he may be able to get angels envy. Would we have an interest in that? I’m definitely curious.
Not a popular opinion, I’m sure, but I enjoy AE. It was the first bottle I had that kind of drew me in to whiskey tasting. I doubt there’s as much support for a pick there as compared to the others mentioned though.
Honestly would be interested in all of those picks. Wish the Angel's envy pick would be cask strength!
Thanks Earn_Marks it I passed on it. I also passed on Pavitt when I saw it in Chattanooga and now I’m regretting that decision.
