I have convinced myself the falcons are trading out of pick 4 on the basis that they can’t afford to pay the rookie salary of someone slotted at pick 4.

He's seriously the worst. Not saying that Pitts won't live up to the hype but saying that he would be the sole player that would make the draft successful is incredibly hyperbolic.

 

The petty part of me is rationalizing missing out on Pitts as being able to go back to my traditional laughing that 75% of gators drafted high bust and this is the most likely situation with Pitts. This is how I will drown my tears tomorrow night.

I’m honestly chilling with Chase at 6, and if he isn’t there, somebody is definitely calling to get their QB

 

As Jack Parkman has said time and again, I'm not sure how anyone could be upset if they come out of this with one of Pitts/Chase/Smith/Waddle.

While I think Chase is in play at 5, Sewell fits a more glaring need. Not sure why his stock is falling but I'm sure they'd love to move down.

 

preach. I'd even throw Sewell in there, though it would be a bit of a letdown from pure fan excitement standpoint. We'd have to grab a good pass catcher at 18 or with a trade up for me to be happy about that.

I still don't quite get the Flowers move. I get it if we got out of more salary, but why create such a glaring OT need now when we could have moved him after the draft for that little compensation. I think Hunt/Fluker would be fine for just 1 more season at OT before moving inside. Makes me feel like we have something up our sleeve.

 

Want Pitts, feels like he and chase won’t be there.
Then it’s a debate of Sewell or Waddle unless someone wants to pay up for a QB but then you risk missing all 4.

 

Smith chatter has died down which makes me think he's the pick at 6 if Pitts/Chase aren't there

I agree. I also don't see another trade down/trade up scenario happening.

 

I could see it if only 0 or 1 of the “big 4” is off the board and one team like Denver was trying to move up and grab the last or second to last QB. That’s the only scenario though, and would require ATL to go Pitts and CIN with Sewell, which could happen. Or I guess ATL to take a QB and then people panic for the last one available

 

Broncos just traded for Bridgewater, seems thry might be out in a trade up at least for a QB.

 

I don't think a QB like Teddy takes them out of the running if someone like Fields were to fall. Especially considering how little they will have tied up in Teddy (only $3mm)

I'd imagine they'd still take one at 9, just not at say 4 on a trade up with ATL now.

Interesting coming from a Bama fan. Smith was definitely more prolific but Waddle screams Tyreek Hill to me.

The longer we go without a trade being lined up for Julio, the more I think ATL has to get out of that pick

Was looking at the betting odds on FanDuel and was surprised to see you get better odds on betting Smith under on an o/u 11.5 than betting he goes 12+

Playing out like the damn movie but we are the Seahawks.

 

I just can't get past a few things when I'm talking Waddle top 10.

No big college season (this year he got hurt, I know). Lost playing time to Ruggs who isn't that good. He's small, already 22, no big college production. What am I missing? I feel like Smith is a clear tier above Waddle. He's fast but a lot of dudes are.

 

Smith at 165lbs is just tough to take at 6

 

I acknowledge that risk and that's why I prefer Chase or Pitts. But in my view I've never seen him at all limited by his weight against any competition. He's already an outlier. Why wouldn't he keep being an outlier in the NFL? While acknowledging the risk and how it may go wrong, I'm willing to bet a top 10 pick on him.

 

They’re not fast like him. Of all the first rounders we have produced, he’s the most electric with the ball in his hands. Even moreso than Julio, who is a better all around player he just doesn’t have the speed and wiggle of Waddle. There’s a reason he gets Tyreek Hill comps... which is high praise.

 

Rank the four for us: Waddle, Smith, Jeudy, Ruggs

And ruggs is pretty fast. Isn’t that why he went higher than Jeudy?

 

Gonna laugh really hard if the Falcons con the fins out of a 2nd round pick to go from 6 to 4 and then take Fields.
