Some sort of postsecondary is needed, but I agree. Four year universities or even community colleges are not for everyone and should not be pushed as the only way.
You know who would love to work a potentially lucrative career as a trade worker? Immigrants, too bad we don’t want any of them anymore.
I went in so hot at that A&M professor on her high horse in November, I don’t remember the full situation through my anger filled rage, but long story short was, record your lectures once and fuck your tenure
I pay almost $400 a paycheck for some shitty insurance (BC/BS) which amounts to about $10k a year. My son had two ACL surgeries and I’ve had to pay $23k out of pocket after insurance over the past two years.
so ummmmmmm, does anyone here know anyone taking unemployment because they can't get a job? do they live in south florida? because my company is hiring and can't find applicants - and yes the positions pay like $15/hr or more plus benefits. I guess they love that $1200/month unemployment so much? (I haven't validated the accuracy of that random instagram post - it just strikes me as what's the fucking point)
Fuckin hell man. Holy shit. I am beefing up my emergency fund asap. I pay about $6k per year for shitty insurance (Cigna now, used to be BC/BS) but haven't had any major out of pocket expenses like that, but, odds are, they're coming eventually. also FYI I just heard about this - no idea what it entails, just fyi: https://www.bcbssettlement.com/
I mean maybe wait until the pandemic is also completely not a consideration before drawing any conclusions
Yakima has a fully funded FEMA spot that the Second Gentleman came to visit in order to highlight, and it’s a fucking ghost town. My mom scheduled a vaccination for her foster kid last week, showed up yesterday worried as shit that they were a couple minutes late and might miss the appointment, but they didn’t even have any record of her even being scheduled. Didn’t end up mattering because there was nobody there anyways, so she was able to get het first dose, but There are an alarming amount of people that have no intention of getting vaccinated, no matter how easy the process is.
Well it's pretty misleading, the way I understand it is that the juiced unemployment is $300/week extra from fed which is $1300/month and thats in addition to whatever the state offers already, so if the state offers $600/week +300 than it's really $46800 for unemployment. If you pay $15/hour you're paying $31200. Floridas max is $275/week (one of the lowest in the country) or $29900 with the $300, so yes they get paid almost as much to sit on their couch (no bennies though). Most states are over that so it's actually more to sit at home than get $15/hour.
WA is now about to offer free Lyft/Uber rides to people for vaccinations, which is amazing. https://www.king5.com/article/news/...alth/281-f4ddd284-4d56-41bb-829e-f9900e35a724
You’re a dumb take! and it was a joke. and I didn’t pay over 100k for learning, I did it for a piece of paper that says I went that no one ever checks.
$481 per month for me + children. Deductible $1,500 individual / $3,000 family Coinsurance 30% Physician Visit $35 Copay Specialist visit $50 Copay Mental Health $0 Copay Out of Pocket Max: $8,000 individual / $16,000 family
Gracious, I wish I paid that little for insurance. I pay 1050 a month for insurance for my family. I can’t afford it for myself so I don’t have it. It just covers my wife and two kids.
I would assume most people who were laid off last year have hit the bottom of their bucket in terms of unemployment funds by now. You can’t stay on them forever as you only have enough money that you’ve worked to put into your account.
Voting Rights update: The For The People Act passed the House on March 3 on a 220-210 party line vote. The Senate Rules and Administration Committee has finalized changes to the bill which will face a Tuesday May 11 vote. The bill requires at least 15 days of early voting and polls must be open at least 10 hours on Election Day. It requires mail ballots to be certified up to 7 days after election. There must be one drop box for every 45,000 voters. Republicans will filibuster. The focus is almost entirely on Manchin.
All of that is perfectly reasonable. I expect every commentator on Foxnews to claim this as the end of the republic.
I can't tell if they actually believe this shit or know it will rile up their base but I really hope they fuck up their #1 marketing platform.
Man what a stupid pick by the Biden team to go to a white owned Mexican restaurant to tell him because he put it under his wife's name he gets to cut to the front of the line. They weren't even open til this March. Just a horrible look. The $28.6 billion fund, authorized in a March 2021 stimulus bill, just start accepting applications for grants Monday, May 3. During the first 21 days, it will only process and fund requests from small businesses run by women, veterans, or people from economically and socially disadvantaged groups. Phillips, a general manager and partner in the Destination Unknown Restaurants group that also runs Espita Mezcaleria and Ghostburger, says Las Gemelas qualified because 60.6 percent of the ownership falls into those categories. Phillips says that includes partners Yesenia Neri Díaz, the head of the group’s masa processing team; Rogelio Martinez, a longtime butcher and cook at the company; hospitality director Kelly White Phillips; and investors who served in the U.S. military. The grants are designed to make up for a restaurant’s losses during the pandemic. Phillips says Taqueria Las Gemelas, which officially opened March 15 of this year and has drawn long lines for to-go orders, will receive $667,000. https://dc.eater.com/2021/5/5/22421...las-gemelas-dc-restaurant-revitalization-fund
Wish she'd shut the fuck up or die. I'm happy with either outcome. Why the fuck is anyone asking questions. She barely remember her own name
i can't imagine how insane and demented you'd have to be to have millions in the bank and want to continue working at the age of 134 or whatever she is these are really sick and twisted people
What isn't talked about is the positive results that the stimulus is having on the economy. It's not just that businesses are trying to staff for pre pandemic levels, they are trying to staff for record sales. This is also putting pressure on the labor market. The part the GOP avoids talking it about like the plague - put more money in the hands of poor people and they spend it...
If you aren’t going to prevent people from being disenfranchised then anything you do or say is entirely performative.
Most Ohio cities have mayoral races in 2021. In Cincinnati, the primary was Tuesday. 38 year old Afab Pureval will run against 81 year old David Mann this fall. Pureval lost narrowly to long time incumbent Steve Chabot in the OH1 congressional race in 2018. The blue shift in Hamilton County started in 2008 with Obama. Republicans had won the county in 16 of 17 presidential elections before 2008. There were still a lot of GOP county office holders. In 2016, Pureval led a group of Democrats who scored significant county office upsets. In 2018, the Ds swept the county commissioners spots. In 2020, the D’s went 7-1 in admin offices, with only GOP prosecutor Deters winning. They went 7-2 on judges, knocking off 5 GOP incumbents. Pureval is looking at a gubernatorial run in 2026, possibly 2022 if DeWine gets primaried. In my opinion, he’s probably the best young candidate the Democrats in Ohio have had in the last 15 years. He’s going to win the mayoral handily. It’s a nice platform moving forward.
Most people get it in their arm, but I'm glad your vaccination site was willing to honor your special request.
