I don’t see Rare Breed Rye mentioned in here often, how does it compare at $60?

This can’t be the standard I apply to bottles. My JDBP Rye is easily the best bottle I’ve had in the past year.

We're fancy bourbon cunts here, not plebes, you need to set your expectations accordingly sir.

But, its a solid pour.

Also if we're talking ryes I think I liked the alberta premium better than the JD Rye. May have to do a side by side

 

This may be the motivation for me to finally crack open the Alberta.

 

I saw a bunch of bottles of Rare Breed Rye for 52 bucks a bottle - I haven't seen any JD Rye pop up outside of a single bottle here or there, and those get snapped up before I even see the post from the store's social media.

 

So side by Side I like JD and Alberta equally. JD definitely is a little sweeter but Alberta is just so smooth yet complex. Don't worry I'm going to go punch myself in the nuts after typing that last sentence..... *randy marsh voice* "creme fraaiiicccheeee"

 

It’s great, got bottle sitting on the dresser. One of the only rye’s enjoy

TMB Bourbon club groupthink loves the following under $30 rye whiskeys:

• Old Overholt
• Old Forester
• Sazerac (~$35 if you can find it)
• Rittenhouse
• Elijah Craig rye

Give them a shot and report back.

 

I like the rare breed rye but for a similar price/proof but way more available I'd go with Pikesville all day.

 

Well look at that, never realized Pikesville was 110 proof. That pretty much settles that.

 

I'd buy Pikesville more if it wasn't $55 in NC. Seems like you folks in other states get it cheaper. Like the RB Rye a lot too.

 

Lol yeah no shot on finding a Sazerac anywhere. I also enjoy the Willett rye. It’s quite tasty

I have better luck finding Sazerac than I do Willett

 

Sazerac sits on shelves in Chicago. Have always been able to get it off the shelf in Reno as well (and usually for $28).

 

If it makes it to a shelf in central Florida it's going to be gone within hours

Opened my Smooth Ambler Big Rye last night. 108.2 proof but drank way hotter than that. Hoping it’s just the neck pour and it’ll be better when I revisit it
