I will say a number of high level college basketball players smoked a ton before games. I never played about HS level myself but did play with college players through the summer and not in season. Some of the guys on college programs would smoke insane amounts of weed and then absolutely destroy. Talking lower level D1 here, not like Duke or anything. I heard names through others but I don’t know if it was shooting the shit, name dropping thing but based on what I personally saw, it would not shock me at all. Now I’m old enough to have a kid on a D1 team so I’m out of touch. Not here as a look at me, it always amazed me how fucking good those people were that were absolutely blasted out of their mind.
Probably a bit of the PAL (perfect alcohol level) where you have this super small window of being able to lose your nerves and your ability takes over the game. The main problem with weed in track & field is it throws off your yellow bile/black bile balances. Bloodletting will help these athletes heal far better than cannabis.

That stress and anxiety could cause sleeplessness the day before competition. We need an immediate ban on melatonin and otc sleeping medications.
