Makes a difference for sure. But half the time you are on a bus in the middle of nowhere which makes it a little more difficult to get guys. Only for a year tho…
considering all the smoke signals Bergevin was sending about how this was a potential injury that would cost price months of the 22 season, Seattle has a really strong grievance against Montreal. Friedman was saying that Seattle wasn't happy with Montreal already, this will only make it worse.
Ya and I remember my buddy who did pxp for Vancouver saying it was a pain in the arse to call guys up.
He’s great for what he is. He didn’t live up to the contract the Rangers paid him, but that was more their fault than his. He’ll be a great depth or locker room guy on a cheap, short term deal this year. Also adds flexibility being able to play F and D. Legitimately concerned about the Rangers wanting to get grittier and replacing what he brings. Because I think he would’ve taken a super cheap deal to continue with NYR.
I made the mistake in assuming he at least had some expansion deals done. Having ZERO is a massive miss. He still did a good job of picking players imo. But some of the throwaway picks when there was value to be had is absolutely baffling. Ex Troy Stetcher from detroit should have been an easy pick and flip.
what did Montreal say though? They said nothing. Reporters said what “sources” were telling them. Maybe the reporters don’t believe bergevin anymore but I doubt they care. They got the clicks they wanted. You can’t punish Montreal for reporters saying that nameless sources told them things. Dirty but can’t prove they did what they definitely did.
There has been rumors we weren’t sold on him as a true #1 but trading him for peanuts after the season he just had is wild.
maybe you guys are trading for a goalie or have a free agent deal lined up? I just don’t see why you trade him. I thought he was your best goalie. He was fantastic this season and he’s young. This just makes no sense
yeah not like the return is good. A 3rd? You really couldn’t get more for a 25 year old coming off 32 regular season/playoff starts with a sub 2 GAA and a save% over .925? Great deal for Detroit.
Based on his trade record, don’t understand why people even pick up Yzerman’s calls. You know you are going to get the short end of the deal.
I will say for Hurricane fans, if you work out a deal with Bernier, he was a beast for us. Put up decent numbers behind historically bad defenses
Seattle could have taken him and got that return and instead they took the guy who will play LW on the 2nd line for their AHL team.
Edit: trade is the other way. Flyers giving a 2nd just to take gostisbehere. I will look at this in reverse. How does Seattle not take a 2nd to try and rehab him? Contract isn’t THAT bad.
Seattle should have done this to select him in the draft but they likely asked for too much. He’s overpaid but not useless. What would he look like with a guy like larsson? Worth the experiment if you get a 2nd and a 7th to try it at 4.5 with 2 years left.
if Carolina got a major offer I could see them considering it but a 3rd rounder to not give him this contract after the year he had? I just don’t get it.
either they value him very low or they value the 1-1.5 million or so that he’s overpaid as more than a 2nd round pick. If that’s how they value cap room I can see why they haven’t made a trade yet.
Here is where Francis failed. He should have been gobbling up bad contracts with 1-2 years of term for picks.
yikes. That is even worse than I thought but you will love him until the contract sucks and happy for him.
