Frazier is 29 and having a career year. He’s going to regress and we are 2-3 years away from competing. It’s a good trade
Sucks because I like Frazier a lot, but I don’t think his performance thus far this season is sustainable beyond this season.
what were you expecting for a 29 year old light hitting second baseman with no track record to back up his production it’s not like he’s, say, Max Scherzer, who should command no less than three top 100 prospects
He does have a pretty solid track record outside of last year I’m just saying, he was a pretty hot commodity, especially in these times where trades are less common. He has another year of control left and the Pirates basically paid his salary for the rest of the year this year for that.
I wouldn’t say he was a super hot commodity, more of the fact everyone in the world knew we would deal him at the deadline and he would be a solid addition to any competing team
His "solid track record" before this season would net him a 1 year deal for $5-8M on the FA market in the last few winters.
I didn’t say he was a superstar He’s really solid and cheap. Pirates basically got him for free this year and he still has another year of team control You’re right, same could be said for just about any player nowadays that’s slightly above league average
That's the point. Non-star position players don't bring you shit on the trade market. It's been that way for years now.
I just think that considering they’re paying his salary, Frazier is worth at least two of their top ~20ish prospects. He’s having a great year and he’s controllable. Means that every other trade this year is going to be fucking boring unless it’s an actual superstar
What’s a reasonable expectation for amount of runs Frazier scores in the last 60 games? I wouldn’t be shocked in the slightest if he approaches 50 runs scored. He’s constantly on base and will be in front of 5-6 guys who mash.
Depending who’s actually available, Frazier was top 5-10 available player at the deadline Seems like it gets worse every year Unless the Rangers actually get a really good prospect for Gallo, I’d rather them just keep him to give me at least one reason to watch them
The Tigers traded Martinez in 2017 an Castellanos in 2019 and got nothing for them. Martinez was on the block for 8 months. Castellanos for 2+ years. It's just the way things are in MLB now.
Can’t wait for the dumb fuck cubs fans (and radio personalities) freak out when they get a post hype former top prospect for Bryant. At this point I’d almost rather them just take the comp pick for him
can the team that acquires Bryant offer him a QO at end of season? If so Cubs should at least get a teams top 3-4 prospect for him.
Honestly the comp picks are more valuable than the prospects traded nowadays Gallo is still controllable through next year so unless they get a top 100 prospect or two id rather keep him and get the comp pick next year He’s the only enjoyable thing about the Rangers right now, and if they trade him they’ll be completely unwatchable I don’t give a fuck what they get for Kyle Gibson. All he does is keep them from tanking even more
Did Lance Lynn get skinny again? The rare times I see him pitch I swear he's like 30 pounds fatter or lighter every time.
idk about everyone else but this video that’s not synced correctly makes me think billy may be on to something
I watched that last week and couldn't believe no one at MLBN stepped in and stopped that from airing. It's one thing for Ripken or Harold Reynolds to say something dumb on live TV. It's another to produce a segment that was so obviously flawed that makes everyone involved in the segment (and show, for that matter) look like morons.
I feel like this is something that’s well known that I somehow just missed all this time. just in case it’s not…this is amazing
