Ha. We now using Bob Hope to gauge college football past popularity during a time none of us were alive.
I think Swarbrick played this nearly flawlessly and strengthened Notre Dame's position for some time to come. Don't view what he did as a Money Grab, just seeking to preserve Notre Dame independence and national prestige.
i am already annoyed by texas fans thinking that them joining the sec means the entire college football landscape is going to change. nothing will happen other than the big12 schools inviting other shitty schools to join their conference. no the pac12 schools arent going to join the B1G so they can play midweek basketball games that are a 5.5 hour flight away from their campus.
Yea IMO, and the reporting points in this direction, but all of this was done around the same time Sankey and Swarbrick were orchestrating the expanded CFP; not last week. They were the two most experienced dudes in the room.
And I was one of the dozen fans in attendance when Les Miles was kneeling out the clock to finish out the third quarter. I've had a lot more fun at non-conference away games.
sorry chad made me quit in his last season we lost these games 31-24 san jose state 51-10 auburn 48-7 alabama 54-24 miss state 45-19 western kentucky (!!!! i made the biggest bet of my life on western kentucky +1. like $25k) 56-20 lsu 24-14 mizzou i watched every game last season when we went 3-7
I wish the whole system could go to a promotion/relegation format, even tho that would mean my team would still be playing meaningless games.
I mean, Oklahoma has won like 14 BigXII titles, compared to Texas 3. OU has won the like five or six in a row, too. Of the two of them, they're the bigger deal in terms of competition. I'd put them right on the level of "LSU when they're having an up year" and "Georgia in the preseason" in terms of respect-factor.
I remember watching the movie where he treated his players like shit and was racist and that's pretty much all I know about him
Yeah that hurt a lot of my interest, as well. I don't hate or really give a shit at all about any B1G team besides Iowa because fuck Iowa they are the B1G's tramp stamp.
Texas (and OU) leaving the Big 12 assures the Big 12 will lose its standing in the playoff. I think you are underestimating the effect that has on the rest of the CFB landscape. You went to the most drastic hypo, which is the PAC 10 and B1G combining...as your example of something that won't happen because Texas left the Big 12. You are ignoring the other giant changes that could be coming as a result, including the CFB being lengthened and the 3 other conferences adding other programs.
All our rivals are in historically elite eras and we just went 2-8 and hired a first-time coach based on a student newspaper article
I watched Taylor Martinez dripple a football, Jake Cotton fall down like a statue before the ball was snapped, and Caleb Lightbourn be the first guy to have both a punt and kickoff go for negative yards. I should be allowed to be not thrilled to watch that.
what about other schools? i've pretty much watched every Oregon game since I can remember. but i'm only tuning into the Iron Bowl when Auburn is competitive and I don't care about the game if they're 7-5. this is why i'm somewhat bearish on this latest SEC expansion: there are just going to be more losses amongst the "top tier" of SEC teams and that makes me less interested. 8-4 UGA vs 8-4 Florida isn't that exciting of a matchup to me as a neutral.
Seriously, the local paper FOIA-ed all the records related to the coaching search and the first time Shane Beamer's name comes up is when a BOT member emails Ray Tanner an article from OU student paper called "Future Head Coach?" and says "take a look at this."
you think texas or OU is going to consistently beat even the bottom half of the sec? they made iowa state look like a top 15 program. texas is basically ole miss but they got to play a shitty schedule for their entire existence. the southwest conference was pretty brutal and they replaced that with kansas and shit
I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm more inclined to watch the Pac-12 Friday game than anything other than the Ole Miss game. A lot of my watching habits are based on gambling, though.
Clemson fans don't tune in til first or second round of playoffs now, usually second. Either way playoff is killing interest
