with the improvements United have made, top 4 seems close to impossible unless them or Chelsea really fall short of expectations. top 6 is a realistic goal if they add a couple of midfielders, but even that's far from a given at this point.
in more important news, the hoodie everyone loves is now listed on the team shop https://arsenaldirect.arsenal.com/F...ar/Arsenal-Adult-21-22-Travel-Hoody/p/MGR4219
A bunch of high tier Madrid reporters are saying the same. I'm excite. Madrid are a lot easier to deal with (vs say Leicester) and they need cash for mbappe
Is Øde the consensus top choice for everyone? I think he presents the best age/value/potential of everyone we’ve been linked. He proved willing to press on loan & was impressed by his work rate, but is best pushed forward, without defensive responsibility. Flashbacks to Özil & getting over run, due to others having to cover for him… & even shit Özil >>> Øde I’d much prefer him for £30-40 to Maddison for £60-70, but undecided if he’s best for the club.
He did pair well with ESR & probably is the better option against a low-block, but I think I prefer an 8/10 hybrid versus a true 10.
He at least has the workrate and is willing to put in a shift .. and IMO he was coming along nicely before going out on international duty and injuring his ankle. in other news, perhaps one of our most important signings this summer.. the set piece coach from Man city ..
give me Ode, especially when he's likely to only cost like 60% of Maddison. not sure who the CM is going to be at this point. any links still out there beyond Neves?
I'd love the have the lad back. I agree with you. Obviously he is not the fastest player in the world, but he runs, is composed in tight spaces and generally makes good decisions on the ball. I also thought he definitely grew into the league and frequently was one of our better players on his day. In relation to your 8/10 hybrid, I'd definitely like some more speed. But once that clicks you're playing 85% of your matches against a low block.
Yes - there were news that he was going to be hired early in July but it looks like he's officially at Arsenal now. You'd have seen some journo post his picture by now if he had started earlier. In another news, the GOAT keeps on going.. and the women's team supposedly signed a Norwegian phenom
He’s prolly doing Emma Lovewell rides and the thing you guys haven’t mentioned about Ode is his leadership… it was mentioned more than once near the end of season that Arteta was going to miss him because he had been a very competitive leader in the group… which we could fucking use IMO
I get that & was really just making an attempt to stoke conversation. There are a lot of directions we could go & I'd be happy... Øde is unlike Özil, but that in & of itself is a negative. At a similar age, Özil's production was light years ahead... knocking in 20+ G/A a season at Bremen
part of me think Arteta needs a left footed player to play next to Partey, but I don't think I've heard us linked with anyone.
Assuming Øde is the guy, versus an 8/10, I think that I'd prefer to keep Willock in the squad. He adds another dimension, with his late runs into the box & directness... He'd be a huge asset off the bench & could continue to increase his value, if he's knocking in goals Granted, we will likely need the £££ for other incoming players & he is salable. That's probably a pipe dream
I kinda assumed that we'd need to wait until the 11th hour to pull in Ødegaard. Would love to get him in with 2-3 weeks left in pre-season
for USMNT people - on arsecast extra interesting that James dropped Tyler Adams as a RB target and not MF.
I prefer Odegaard to Maddison (price taken into account). Plus if Haaland doesn't move this summer, he'll be available next summer for £67 million. We'll have the money, his buddy Martin, European football to offer and a need for a young striker. Could make top 4 a reality again.
It was 98% tongue-in-cheek. Your avatar is perfect - it reminds me how annoying you are before I read your posts.
