I hope the 5 sub rules stay permanently. It makes end of regulation and especially extra time much more enjoyable to watch.
Puli Sarge Reyna McKennie Adams TBD Vines JAB Robinson Cannon Turner I know Musah is supposed to be the real deal but right now I think I’m starting Acosta in there and playing 8 and 14 higher up. Of all the guys that deservedly get shit on, I think Roldan changed my perspective the most - but I have no confidence that his skill set can be applied against top level athletic or technical teams. Dest has to do more for me defensively to matter in big games. I was not impressed in the NL, but maybe it was end of season lack of focus etc. Bello or Scally will be the LB by Qatar.
I can't imagine putting Sam Vines in any squad and leaving Dest out but everyone is welcomed to their opinion.
I think I’d go that but Dest as LB right now. Ideally Scally and Bello give us something to think about at LB and Dest is good enough that he’s a lock whether it be at RB with Scally/Bello or LB with Cannon
I think I’m still team Reyna at CAM. Winger is probably our best position top to bottom, so if one of our starters there can play either pretty effectively, I think we should do that and maximize our talent on the field. The caveat to that is it looks like McKennie is going to play there at Juve this year. If he kills it, I may change my mind about that.
feel the same way. plus I look at Reyna's body and technical ability and I think it's just a matter of time before he's playing fulltime in the middle.
Yeah, when he came up at Dortmund that was his primary position. They mainly just started putting him on the wing because there was a regular German national team player in that spot they needed on the field too.
McKennie plays attacking midfield for Juve and it doesn’t work out: cool, Reyna there and we get another talented attacker on the field. McKennie does well: we’ve solved our Musah/McKennie midfield conundrum.
pretty sure moose was starting for valencia in the middle of the pitch this preseason before getting hurt can’t recall if he was filling in because players were missing due to international duty or how he did, but i thought i remember reading he was supposedly solid preseason but still
I agree, and it also could be vital for the United States going forward from a depth perspective that is growing quickly. If you feel 85-90% as good about a backup as the starter at the beginning whistle you are going to feel much better about them 65-75 minutes into the game with fresh legs. Some of the best stuff we saw last night was later in the game & it resulted in the team going for the win instead of sitting back & being happy to give Turner a chance.
Pretty sure Wes was playing as basically as a CAM last season at times. He also did play wide as well
Ochoa is going to be a really good goalkeeper, and will probably get minutes for Mexico in the next 4 years. Think it would have been really hard for him to pass Turner/Steff, but if he gets a European move I could have seen it I’ll never lose a ton of sleep over losing a GK. The better/healthier the NT gets, the more this will happen. Should be celebrated imo
Obvio! Woeful finishing and losing to the gringos is nothing new my franquista sympathizer m8. This last edition was a tale as old as time. Mex actually looked much better in the nations league final than yesterday and it’s pretty obvious in hindsight why. Unlike the USMNT, the summer’s not over yet for Mexico. Playing against the brazucas in Tokyo sounds grand. I expect Cincy will be a fun time in November as well. Until then, this is fine.
I’m mildly disappointed, I guess. He has areas to improve in before he has a chance of becoming the regular starter for either MNT. I think he has a tough road ahead of him with Mex, but the USA road is tougher. Maybe this will interest more of the local Mexican American community to attend RSL games. Apparently DLH and his front office actively worked to prevent them from attending games.
I mean it’s the obvious move. Stay and fight for a spot with three entrenched 26 year old keepers who all have a valid argument to being the starter or go to Mexico and be the heir apparent to a 36 year old who probably has 1 World Cup cycle left.
It’s such a more physically demanding sport, played at an insane pace, compared to when the three-sub rule was instituted
Will be forever Ochoa's defining moment playing for the US. Colossal fuck up and losing the Tokyo Olympic bid. Fuck him and good riddance
Supposedly Schalke's financial problems means they're willing to take less for Hoppe than he might be worth. Lot of teams should be able to afford him. Hopefully that means he picks a team where he'll be able to get consistent PT in a decent league.
the replies to that tweet are bayern fans hoping that tweet isn’t true crazy how highly he’s rated at one of the biggest clubs in the world
