I don’t try to PR anymore. I think I was juicing when I set mine. I just see if I’ve taken the ride before and try to beat my stats if I have.
There is no individual right answer other than go all out for as long as you can go all out. If you don’t feel like pissing your pants or throwing up afterwards, you did it wrong imo
It’s all personal preference. I typically ride in the low to mid 90s for FTP rides. For the test probably the same, but it’s been a while since I tested. Edit: first FTP is always the hardest since you don’t have your zones on the screen. Once you get your zones it’s easier to work through the test by starting at zone 4 and going up every 5 min. (How Wilper coached it) .
Loving this thing so far. But goddamn, reading some of y’all’s output numbers in this thread make me realize how out of shape I am and how far I’ve got to go. Tunde is my fav to date. Got my first Alex ride lined up for tomorrow.
My output is way lower than before but I feel like I am in better shape now. Started doing way more strength classes and I feel like it’s helped me feel and look better overall but hasn’t improved my numbers. Rad has become my favorite strength instructor ahead of chase. I’ve also found that doing the same stretching class back to back is better than doing different classes one after another. What I do now is the same class but instead of switching at the 30 second mark I hold the stretch for the full minute. Today I did Olivia’s class. Did the right side for the first time and left the second time. Helps so much more.
I wouldn’t focus too much on the output from others, honestly. Bikes will be calibrated differently. When I originally got it, my outputs were way too high. I followed the calibration instructions but feel it’s probably a little low now. I just reset my PRs and start from scratch and focus on those more so than the leaderboard.
I'm really bad at pushing myself and self-motivation. I probably should retake the FTP test, as some of the lower zones (1-3) probably are set too low. I really need to push myself to ride on the weekends, tho.
I took a 45 min ints and arms yesterday and I got like 450ish but look at the people taking it when I was and dude passed me half way through his ride so I assume he did 8-900 or so.
i want to thank you. You’ve been pushing me the last few months. I set up a competition with you without telling you lol
Haha you are welcome. Been an end of summer bike improvement type run. Also much easier to fit longer rides in with my new employer at lunch time which is my favorite time to ride. Going to try Wilpers method of how he trains and focus on strength a lot in the winter. It also doesn’t help I jacked up my right wrist doing a plank so taking a few days off of strength.
Knocked 400 out of the park this week. Just hit 427 on a 30 minute and actually felt better than I did on previous PR rides.
Shit, a $400 price reduction?I just bought the thing less than two weeks ago. Anyone with experience with peloton customer service? Any chance they’d give me a bit of a refund?
Did you get the regular Bike or Bike+? If regular, you should be getting an email about a refund according to Peloton.
Just wanted to let everyone know that they just added more scenic rides. That’s two new batches of rides in the last month. Also, new guided scenic rides are in the works, which is good seeing as there are only three.
I was going to give one of those guided scenic rides a try this weekend. I figured it’d be a nice change of pace from the studio classes. Hopefully it’s not too gimmicky
Personally I thought Dennis’s guided ride was very corny. They’ve got him wearing tennis shoes and tights and riding a bike that’s not properly setup for him. Poor guy just seems uncomfortable the whole time. The scenery is amazing though. Matt’s is much better IMO. You can tell he’s got a history as a cyclist. Also, the 60 minute Patagonia ride that was just added is phenomenal. Best scenic ride to date.
It’s been a long 5 months but the management at my housing community finally got our Peloton fixed. What’s a good ride for me to jump back in on to kick my ass? Thinking I need to catch up with either Emma or Leanne
A few articles have come out recently from a stock/investment POV, talking about how tough it'll be for Peloton to continue to grow going forward. Mentioned the subpoenas and DOJ stuff too. Even considering the possible Spain and France expansions.
For some reason (bonk) decided to do Emma’s Debbie Gibson ride. Music sucked but bonk was worth it IMO.
different strokes although I will say Olivia does look good in the 10 minute cool down ride and stretching class I’ve been taking from her. They are the latest two. She looks like she has been tanning. Emma is mixed and I love mixed women. It’s a personal thing.
I normally don’t understand why people care what the instructor looks like. However, there’s an Olivia power zone ride where she is constantly having to readjust her bra because her boobs are popping out. I highly recommend it.
a little more information would be great. As far as Emma it’s not just her looks but it’s her attitude and personality that does it for me and makes the rides less tedious. Her classes go by the fastest for me.
Question…do the instructors write their own programming? Is that why some are consistently easier than others? I really like Alex but my numbers are consistently worse with any of his classes vs Kendall, Emma, or Jess King. I pick similar styles of rides for each and am working pretty well within the cadence and resistance for all classes. But my output last night for a 45 min class with Alex was about 80 kJ less than 2 nights ago with Kendall. Makes me not want to take his classes, even though I enjoy them. Weird.
Maybe this: https://members.onepeloton.com/clas...a6a39a2560184dec96a87d439048dc94&locale=en-US peloton isn’t letting me preview the class on my phone.
The one I linked is 30 min PZE from 2/12/21. If it isn’t that one, we probably need to call in SugarShaun
Just preview it on the bike. If you fast forward and she’s holding her boobs, you have the right one.
