Every customer service experience I’ve ever had with fanatics has been awful. I hope they don’t ruin cards
Debated opening one of these today, but held out and ended with a Chrome Blaster from B&N. I only know the tall blonde chick, you know the one, in the WNBA. If I had bought a box and didn't pull her, I'd have no idea about anything.
My meijer has blister packs of 2020 opening day with three packs for three bucks. Bought all six looking for that Robert SP rookie.
Panini Spectra FOTL baseball goes up Friday. Dutch auction starting at $1500. It's 16 freaking cards and not licensed with MLB. Who the hell is buying that?
Shits gotten put of control, especially resell market. But at the end of the day, somebody is buying.
Not sure how much I'm going to buy even though I love Bowman because my card budget is going to go to hell when basketball gets released because I'm going to collect as much Cade as I can. If anyone pulls any Cristian Santana let me know and I'll gladly trade or buy it. He is a top 10 tigers prospect.
Which Cades should I buy? I haven’t bought actual cards since upper deck was a thing because this whole industry is bizarre now. Amazon is like “panini select hobby, panini select prism blaster, panini sandwich maker, nba hoops hanger” and I don’t know what it means
Prizm is probably the best one to get. Depends on the price range you want. This is a pretty good guide. Most the first few releases he will still be in his college jersey so probably won't hold as much value. I think I'm going to go nuts and try to get the base card from almost every set and then get one nice card. Will probably have to sell off some cards to finance that, but I think it would be cool collection to have since he is the first Pistons #1 pick in forever, and was the first player drafted since my son was born. Hopefully Cade is killing it with Pistons when he gets old enough to pay attention and I can turn the collection over to him at some point
Prizm ($$$) National Treasures ($$$$) Flawless ($$$$) Optic ($$$) Select ($$$) Immaculate ($$$) Those are the most popular sets that will hold the most value moving forward. I would avoid most other sets (especially anything in college unis) because they're just not very popular. If you're strictly buying as a collector and you don't care about value then buy the designs that you like. I personally love Noir and Court Kings, but it isn't that popular so I like picking up stuff from those sets as a collector. For resale though, I strictly stick to the above sets. Of course, the most popular sets are also expensive as hell. Edit: Keep in mind, those sets won't be released for a very long time. For example, 2020-21 Select, Optic, and National Treasures all came out within the last month.
saw that last night, not 100% convinced it wasn't an angle to get views. seems like a lot of effort to reseal a pack, then a box, but it's not impossible to do.
Walmart locally has Topps Chrome hangers and blasters. I’m frantically trying to get home to get my credit card and go back, as they don’t accept Apple Pay
Yea I am a fool and bought a couple. Stashing one and opening the other. Also got two megas because I haven’t found cards in the wild since start of July
Meijer jacked their card prices by me. I saw an employee with a cart full of topps baseball hanger packs and prestige football blasters that people discarded at the checkout when they saw how much they were. $35 for the blaster and over $25 for the hanger. No thanks, especially with no guarantee of auto/memorabilia card.
if you call them they’ll happily tell you when/if they’ve restocked. They’re quite pleasant to work with.
Was posted on discord but thought it needed to be here too, HGA has been grading knock off cards (at least so far a fake Gretzky rookie and a fake Mahomes auto). Apparently they don't authenticate cards before grading. Another reason to avoid anything from the lower tier grading companies
So much love for HGA in the hobby community and I just don't get it. Hell, if we are being honest, every single grading company has flaws. PSA is king but they really aren't that accurate with their grading. I cannot figure out why a PSA 10 is worth substantially more than any other Gem Mints out there. Obviously it is all hype and name value but I have found numerous PSA 10s in my collection that aren't worthy of that grade.
I'm not a fan of the custom labels but I'm not afraid to admit I use HGA and think they have the best looking slabs on the market. And they serve a huge need when costs are what they are to get PSA or BGS grades. SGC slabs are so hideous, I'll never use them. I have some SGC slabs and the labels have faded so bad that I called to see what the process was for them to replace the faded labels and they only offered to regrade and reslab at normal prices.
I dont care about slabs, but to me I'd never buy an HGA slabbed card now knowing they do nothing to verify the card is authentic. That's over half the value of card grading to me, especially the older stuff
feel free to google PSA controversy and see hundreds of examples of issues. I'm not familiar with the HGA issues you're talking about, but it's a problem with every grading company
