This is the first time I can remember where a time limit draw didn’t interrupt a pin; it works way better that way. You were left believing these guys were going another 30 if it weren’t for the bell.
Was eating dinner so I just caught up to live. If you watch that first match and don’t appreciate pro wrestling afterward, I don’t know what to tell you
Announcer promos have been terrible they've been trying to fit them in a rushed show and end up talking over other stuff. Have a feeling rest of this episode is going to be rushed after Punk promo and that first match taking 1st hour
Yea edited my post to unqoute you, mis interpreted it but figured out you meant Punk. You can give that guy a mic and 10 minutes and no notes and he would deliver almost every time
As someone who tuned out of AEW for a long period, why do AEW fans hate him? Just the dumb ass neck tattoo?
That was weird. Overbooked if on purpose, because his fuck up played no part in the finish or really in any part of the match
Every time I see Ruby, I can’t help but think of that guy in this thread talking about all of his buddies having a turn with her in high school. No chance I’m touching that. She does nothing for me.
AA Stadium looks like a great venue for wrestling. Huge crowd but everyone is closer. Only thing is that acoustics aren't great in there. So I'd hope people could even understand Punk's promo if you're there live.
AEW keeps delivering. They keep raising their own stakes and they keep hitting homers. Glad Britt got to main event that show. Omega/Danielson was chef's kiss. Cody was hated but they played into it and, darn it, he is a really good grappler. Sting is better at 60 than he was at 50. Can't wait for Friday.
Bryan had a great quote a few weeks back that he truly believes that if you show great pro wrestling to anyone that they can appreciate it as art. That match last night was a perfect example. I hope they hooked some channel flippers last night.
Danielson and Omega beat the shit out of each other last night. Give me a 60 minute time limit draw next. It’d actually be awesome if no one won this feud and they just stalemate each other then outside circumstances blows the feud apart
He cut a promo that was very trumpy and additional to that it was a pretty bad promo in general. It’s been all downhill since that.
Also people perceive him as always making himself the hero even though he’s not incredibly charismatic or good in the ring.
And yet most didn’t had those issues when he was one of 4 stars in AEW for nearly 2 years. I love Cody I can’t not love the dude. I’ve been a fan since dashing made his way into my life. But he’s always been an over booked act. With that said your point isn’t wrong i just believe the promo + the addition of a ton of talent into AEW and those things happening in close proximity has moved him down the enjoyment rankings for a lot of fans. It’s ok to shit on him now that they have other major acts.
I think people were trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. Then people got tired of him and like you said a lot of other stars developed or came on board. His contribution to AEW is immense but I think the fans have soured on him as a hero
AEW just had the best wrestling TV episode in twenty years, one of the best wrestling matches of all time, in a 20k venue that is perfect for the sport and which sold out twice-over in New York City. And WWE stans are complaining on twitter about Cody Rhodes hogging the spotlight with a ten minute match (that he lost) after a two months off camera
I mean there's no question he was getting booed like crazy last night. I would argue it's intentional (you don't dress up like Homelander with a ten foot cape without a little self awareness) but it's not just booing him; it's the latching on to that (despite his losing for crying out loud, which was the big complaint going into the match) and beating that drum in the aftermath of one of the best TV episodes pro wrestling has had in twenty years. It smacks of someone desperate to hate something good. I think there's a segment of pro wrestling/sports entertainment fanbase that has hate-watched and second-guessed WWE programming for so long they're scared to just sit back and enjoy a good product that's not run by a sleep-deprived septuagenarian with the attention span of a dead goldfish.
I really hope they move Black away from Cody now but it seems like they won't. Cody is going to have to get his win back it feels like.
It's wild that Arn is only a couple months older than Sting considering their respective athletic performances last night
Sting had more reason to keep himself in shape over the years. He's basically worked at least a semi-regular schedule nonstop since the 80s. Only taking a year or two off here and there. Arn's been 45 years old since he was born. He's only recently turned into a 65 year old.
