I feel like the False 9 is going to blow up in the last game and Ted will throw himself under the bus for the tactic change.
For this to happen, they would have to lose and thus not get promoted for the third and final season. I watch this show dreading bad things happening sometimes, but I just can't believe they end the season with another kick to the balls result for the team.
LOL its a UK paper talking football. Also its literally a man in the room so be hard to sit on something that juicy to try to get one of the other 4 people that know to spill.
I mean he said he respects Ted, but he doesn’t ask for a comment until the story is written. Dick move.
Yeah I do think it strange he didn't do it before but maybe it hadn't gone to press yet? Not sure but seemed odd to me too.
Also, it’s possible for the False 9 to fail and for the team to win. They could revert to some tactic that Beard or Roy implement to save the game, but the media can still be all over Ted for playing the False 9 in the first place.
Also, not enough is being made about them not doing a longer Bye, Bye, Bye dance scene. A truly missed opportunity.
Maybe. I actually think it's more likely Nate gets fired, but they use the strategy and Ted gives him credit for it working after a win. I have a hard time seeing Nate coach that game. Ted knows he's the one who told Crimm. Roy knows Nate kissed Keeley. And they've been building to a big Beard blow up on Nate all season for all the times he's seen Nate be a dick to people in the office. And if there's a confrontation, Nate's not just going to suddenly stop being a dick or realize he's been one. Everything points to the opposite.
The show is big on second chances, so I’m not writing Nate off coaching yet. I still think Nate’s big awakening is going to come when his parents go off on him. Like I envision a scenario where before the game Nate snaps on his dad and wishes him dead. And then at the game when Ted is ready to fire him, Nate spills on his relationship with his father, which leads to Ted explaining to him about how his dad killed himself. Nate will realize how awful he was for leaking the panic attack story and Ted gives him a second chance. It’ll be their big Emmy moment.
No person keeps Nate other than maybe Ted and I think it would be shitty for him to do but won't be surprised if he does. Honestly could see Rebecca gladly fire him.
Loved that bit from beard about how a forest works and Nate didn’t get it. Just like everything Nate doesn’t get it. He’s clueless. Ted encouraged his growth, helped him become something besides a kit man. And Nate thought it was because he was that good and not because Ted nurtured his growth. He takes his luck as success.
I like Sam a lot, but I'd rather he leave if the alternative is he stays and they continue the romantic story of him and Rebecca.
After reading some reviews and thinking more about it, I really hate the Roy/Keeley thing at the end of the episode even more. Either nothing comes from that scene and they just pointlessly threw in some stuff for dramatic reasons out of boredom, or they're going to break up due to a horribly built up storyline.
I’m pissed. My Ted Lasso track suit I ordered for Halloween came in today. The thing is like a firefighters jacket. Just ridiculous how thick it is. Having to figure out a plan B for Halloween to try and pull my Lasso off.
My bet is it just strengthens their relationship. The fact that they both resists temptation and share it with each other seems healthy.
100% thought Roy had a moment in the classroom where he realized he wanted to propose. And then he was gonna do it as they looked into each other’s eyes. I swear if they break up I’ll be sad. They’ve done an amazing job of making nate one of the most hateable characters in all of television. I’m also wondering if Rupert more just said something that set nate off to leak the story. Not sure what or if he’s trying to get fired or what.
Probably something like I’ve been watching you, you’ve been doing good work. Shame Ted takes all your credit.
You don’t bust out ‘karma police’ unless it means someone is getting their shit handed to him. Get FUCCKED Nate the irate
I love the show but does anyone else feel like season 1 was a good bit more better than season 2? Was having this discussion with a group of friends tonight
I feel like people say this because of the two standalone eps and the fact that people don’t want to watch something as real as mental illness in their “comedy” shows
I think there is a lot of nostalgia for season 1 because the commercials were so dumb and I don’t think anyone thought the show would be any better.
I do think the KCRPE (Kansas City References Per Episode obvs) was higher in season 1 so I do understand while some would rate it higher in that regards.
Don’t ask me why I’m up at 6 AM rewatching Lasso on a Saturday but I don’t think enough is being said about Roy lip syncing to N*sync when he thought no one was watching.
Ted will open up publicly about his mental health issues and everyone will rally around him. The season started with him telling a deeply personal story in a press conference. I think we’ll get another one in the finale. Roy and Keeley will be fine. Nate will have a reckoning but Ted will forgive him, much to the chagrin of us all.
