Not trying to be a honk here, but if we are turning a corner, it’s because Frost got an actual boss. Fuck me for thinking we got a fuck us vaccine.
A guy in my section passed away from an epileptic seizure from the flashing blinding lights. His last words were…. The fuck us is real. Thomas Bill Osborne. Ts and Ps.
Yeah tonight, partially due to the heavy clouds it was somewhat dark enough where it’d still be noticeable but yeah not nearly as cool as the pre-4th quarter thing. I felt the same way you did though. Sure Frost sucks and these wins vs bad teams could extend his time here but I still got excited during the light show thing. As dumb as it sounds, you could almost feel everyone in Memorial including the players needed a “oh this is what it’s supposed to feel like” moment/night or whatever.
Frustrating that this team could (should?) be 6-0 and be in a marquee matchup next week. There are obviously still some issues but there has been huge improvement this season. GBR
can we talk about 82 for a minute. pay close attention when this kid comes in the game he only ever comes in for like 6 to 10 plays a game on the goal line and in that time he flattens like 5 DBs, it's hilarious.
Maybe if we actually play the correct players against the worst teams. Good news is we’ll find out real quick if this view is correct or not. First half of the schedule looking a bit softer than initially expected and we’re 3-3. Back half of the schedule looking as difficult if not more so, given Michigan and Iowa’s resurgence and OSU likely being back to themselves after the early Oregon loss. Even with all the good in tonight’s game, the bright spot of our team still had a moment where it refused to step on the neck. Scott even referenced it at halftime. Until those moments become fewer and farther between, the improvement is largely superficial. Will definitely be interesting to see how the needed changes on the oline hold up next week. Either way, pretty damning that those clear improvements weren’t made in Week 2 or 3 instead of last night.
Lol someone just emailed into the radio show talking about how them all wearing the same suits off the bus was a statement. “First time since 1971”. Of course Vrzal agreed. “No need to be individuals when it’s a team game” Man if only we had those suits the other games!
I know it’s a running joke, but the importance of recruiting omaha is so fucking noticeable. Nick H. has been good to great all year and Teddy looked like maybe our best lineman. 2 of our 3 Heisman winners are from the area among the other greats. Frost or another coach, recruiting Omaha HAS to be the #1 priority ever single year. 4-5 good players every single year. That’s 20% of your roster if you own the town.
Get the Omaha kids in for an unofficial Saturday. Play good football in front of a crowd that wants to win and see if they will give you an official. Just fucking try.
10000 percent this. Scares me to see a little progress on the field knowing our recruiting seems to have taken a back seat this year.
stop worrying, it's one of like three good games they've played in the last 4 years... not going to happen consistently 2007 k-state
Pretty typical Fartsian triumphalism after beating an absolutely piss poor opponent. Should age well after next weekend.
I will say if it’s possible to repeat the non-dick stepping of last night going forward that would be nice. It looked like what I hoped Fart’s teams would look but obv NW is dogshit obv. But that was still improvement.
Yeah, that’s where I’m at. I usually try to find something to complain about but when you haven’t won a game like that in a decade I’ll enjoy it and see what happens going forward. IMO you can enjoy last night without saying Frost is the right guy for the job.
I try to be as objective as possible. But doing that has meant hating everything about our football program for years because it's bad. I'm fine with calling it a great performance when it is even if it doesn't matter and I ultimately think Frost is a bad corch. Blind squirrels and all that. Doesn't hurt that NW always seems to be a much closer game than it should because Fitz is an actual good coach so beating those nerds that way feels like things are right with the world.
It is a bit surprising but I’m guessing getting outgained by Rutgers 352-275 the week before is probably a big factor in that. Rutgers just couldn’t capitalize in the red zone in that game.
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm so excited for the future when our football team has a inevitable crappy entire game at home and we do our new 3rd quarter tradition of playing "you've been thunderstruck" while being down by like probably 27 points headed into the 4th.
Since there’s no specific crowd involvement around Thunderstruck, I wouldn’t mind them rotating the song just to keep things fresh too. Kind of like what they tried to do with the tunnel walk the first half of Frosts first season.
I guess I never really paid attention to other schools traditions, does Wisconsin play Jump Around even if they're losing embarrassingly bad?
They were down 20-10 yesterday and played it and all the Michigan players went crazy on the sideline lol
Nebraska played pretty much the same video/songs before the 4th quarter of Iowa in 2019 but it wasn’t a night game so obviously was a bit difference but the crowd still got hyped.
Is this some kind of preferred walk on spot? He has a couple tweets right before it that are similar but he specifically mentions a scholarship for those, Bemidji State and Wayne State.
Gave me chills just now watching it again. On mobile, you can move your phone to turn around in the stadium to see it from all angles. really cool. edit: you can drag the screen on YouTube desktop too.
