I would not like this, as I have gotten into the habit of watching Thursdays at 11 PM central every week and not having to avoid spoilers the following day.
I can exhale now that my heart wasn't ripped out. I enjoyed that very much, except the part that Nate is somehow still breathing.
That office scene at halftime was insane. Nate is basically Macho Man turning on Hulk Hogan in the 80s this season
And doesn’t track. Like, fuck you Nate you goddamn baby. Ted didn’t give you enough attention?! Should have met with Dr Sharon because you got issues son.
That halftime conversation erased any doubt about Rupert being in his ear for a while, because that's almost certainly where all of that came from. Curious how much we see of Nate next season and whether we get some of those conversations after the fact in flashback form.
Sudeikis has said a bunch this season was Empire Strikes Back. Well, the emperor created his Vader. Let’s see if he redeems himself in the end.
Nate being offended that Roy didn't want to murder him because he's a fucking loser who poses zero threat to his relationship made me happy. Not as happy as Roy actually murdering him would have made me, but at least they stuck it to Nate that way.
I was like oh shit Roy is going to fucking murder him it’s going to be great. Then when Roy shrugged it off I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. Honestly up until the match I haven’t laughed that hard at a show in a very long time, might be my second favorite episode of all time, second to the scrubs finale. anyone who didn’t like it, I think your soul is dead or dying. Hey
Nate is such a fucking clown. I am sure there will be some season 3 redemption arc but that insecure asshole won't deserve it. Also lol at Trent Crimm, Independent.
For as much as season 1 was compared to Major League by critics, I loved the Roy-Jamie nod to it when they were celebrating. Perfectly identical to Dorn punching Wild Thing when they beat the Yankees.
The best part is Rupert hires Nate as a fuck you to Rebecca but really getting him out of Richmond is a huge help to that club and I'm sure he will suck ass as a manager.
Rupert would have promoted Nate before if he was worth a shit. 100% a mind game with Ted and Rebecca. Rupert’s plan to have Nate sabotage the match/promotion with the false nine backfired when the team didn’t let it beat them down like they thought it would. The billionaire reaction didn’t really land for me. They took it a little too far to the poop joke side. Good jokes from the regular crew, tho.
Season 3 predictions: Roy and Keely break up. Trent becomes AFC Richmond’s media something or another Roy ends up somewhere not AFCR Sam has a problem balancing business and football West Ham/AFCR showdown(s) Jamie Tartt goes full fucko again Ted and Beard fall out for a while
I'm not interested in a redemption arc, both because I don't want Nate to be redeemed after what he did, and because I don't Nate getting the screen time it would require for me to feel sympathetic towards him. I'm really not interested in seeing the awkward interactions between Nate and his dad that it would probably take for that arc to happen. I just want to hate him and hope he dies.
I was gonna comment on how silly it is for an assistant on a championship tier team w almost zero coaching experience getting a mangers job w an EPL team. Then I remembered the premise of the show is about a D2 cfb coach that got the head job as an EPL coach Im dumb
Loved the finale, and like everyone else is thinking and saying.. Nate can go fuck himself. Little shit who doesn't get enough attention from his Dad so he takes it out on Lasso. The hair annoys me too but they're just leaning into him being unlikable even more. I randomly got excited for the idea of Roy coming back in season 3 fat and not giving even more of a shit.
Beard's "I'd be happy to head butt you Nate" was perfect Few people do more with less dialogue than Coach Beard
I would have laughed if after keely said she couldn’t go with Roy then the did the 1 week later, it showed Roy and Jamie sitting on the beach together.
I think they are trying to show how much stress he is under with the hair getting more and more grey.
I was happy when Jamie brought Dani in to take the penalty and the music started playing, because there was no chance they'd do that and have Dani miss for a sad ending.
Were there scenes where Ted ignored Nate or treated him poorly? That seemed out of left field. Eh. Per that tweet above I guess I can see some of it. That's pretty subtle shit to lose your head over.
On rewatch. Ok not as funny the second time, still good though. I really hope Rupert isn’t behind keeleys new business venture. love how quickly beard just cuts to it. Kind of wish Rupert would have bought a different club besides west ham. But that might make sense geographically, just makes me think of green street. Love Roy liking the diamond dogs, it’ll be nice to have him in it instead of Nate. also is Nate going grey from the stress or is he continuing to dye it? It’ll be nice when west ham gets relegated next season. That’s ok Nate, Ted has one of those in every room of his flat. Probably a bag of them as well. That butthurt from E was great and how it kept going, just perfect.
like Nate just said, there were minor scenes throughout that Nate made a much bigger deal than they were.
Yeah- further proof Nate just sucks. Knowing the show, I worry he is never going to get his comeuppance.
I think the biggest thing for me is that Nate was a dick all season. He was a dick to the new kit man. He was a dick to the players. He was a dick to pretty much everyone except Keeley and Rebecca. If that wasn't the case and Nate just felt abandoned by Ted, I could see a redemption arc of sorts where he realizes the abandonment he felt was dumb and he needs to make amends. But the way that character was portrayed this season was of an angry, vindictive asshole who finally got the platform to be able to act on it. I don't want that guy to be redeemed. I want that guy to stay a prick in season 3 and be run over by everyone he interacted with this season.
How did that short motherfucker get the Believe sign down. Gimme a scene of his 2in vertical not even getting to the top of the door and having to pull up a chair.
He will probably get his redemption twenty-five years from now in "Greyhounds", when Ted and Nate team up to go after Rupert.
