You are pissing me off with your lack of acknowledgment with how shitty the Lions are/have been. We dont even know what a playoff win is
the Lions have one playoff win since 1957. put some respect on their name when you're talking about bad franchises.
I mean yall suck too. But you've only lost 10+ in 4 of the last 10. 3 playoff appearances. Seriously, look at this. Look at this last decade.
They have 71 wins in the last decade. Not good, but not horrible. The Jags have 43. Only one that was in our league was the Browns but they're good now.
dblplay1212 you're bad, but you're "new money" bad. The Lions have been real bad since the 50's. Historically bad. Occasionally they peak by flirting with a .500 record if they stumble into a HOF skill position player. Bad is in the Lions' DNA. Check back in a few decades.
you’ve been closer to a super bowl in the last 5 seasons than the Miami dolphins have been in my entire life and we had one of the greatest players in the history of the world leading our team and the greatest scandal free coach in league history fuck you
I'm not sure you understand the history of a modern-day Dolphins fan. In my lifetime the Dolphins have never even made an AFC championship game....... I mean for Christs sake this is a game that's seared into my head as a Dolphins fan. I'll never ever forget this game, it stands out more than most games in Dolphins history. Not trying to dick measure but dismissing Dolphins fans as not having it rough is ignorance to exactly how inept the Dolphins have been for many many years. What makes this season more rage-inducing is that things were finally supposed to be different, and that hasn't been the case at all. The team is awful and one of the worst in the league when they were supposed to be at the very least competing for a playoff spot.
You had hope all season. That's half the fun. The Jags have been so bad for a decade that there is no hope. No delusion. There was a fluke outlier in there and that was great but every other season the Jags have known by week 5 that the season was over. I don't even care about them building a title contender. I just want a team that can make it to 9-7 or 10-6 with hope. Yes, yall suck but go look at the Jags last decade and it'll make you feel better.
You're talking about playoff wins and and I'm talking about wishing for 9-7. There's levels to this shit.
The thing that puts the Lions over the top is that it's not just that they lose, it's how they lose. It's inevitable that they are going to lose, but the ways in which they find to make it happen are always excruciatingly painful, and often in historical fashion. And then of course you can sprinkle in some just flat out historically bad teams as well. First to 0-16. One playoff win since the modern NFL became a thing. One. Oh and let's not forget that this team wasted the talents of two generational players and they both retired early because of it. Nobody can compete with the misery of the Detroit Lions.
I'm talking about as a Jags fan your franchise has been vastly more successful in your and mines lifetime. You're in the rebuilding cycle. Most teams go through this.
I won't argue that no one has had it worse than Lions fans. They've been objectively one of the worst franchises in the league. Their only competition was the Browns and they've seemingly turned things around, but I'm not going to listen to a Jags fan claim they've had it worse than any other fanbase because that's not even remotely true.
I mean if you want to hold onto the late 90s, go for it. For the last 10-15 years, the Jags have been the worst in the NFL. That covers the entire time I've lived here and been a fan.
Numbers don't lie. The Jags have been the worst over the last decade and it's not even close. Lions and Dolphins have 70+ wins while the Jags have 43.
you are comparing the hope you have when you are 1 win away from the super bowl to the hope you have when you almost make the playoffs? get this guy outta here lol
The 2017 season was weird. They weren't great but man it was awesome to have hope late in the season. They lost the last 2 games but still got in. The 2 playoff wins were completely unexpected so it was a great couple weeks. I guess it's what you want. I'd much prefer a lot of 8-8, 9-7, 10-6 without advancing much in the playoffs over nine 3 win seasons with 1 solid season mixed in with 2 playoff wins. Those 3 win seasons are just miserable with zero hope and having that 90% of the time is the worst. At least you have hope.
You can really see the Bama Yankees Lakers fan side of dbl shining through, since his entire argument is now predicated on a conference title game appearance not being a good thing
Fuck are you talking about? Nobody said it was bad. It was a great couple weeks. 90% of the rest of the decade has been with zero hope.
Ok so then we agree that the Lions, with their one playoff win since 1957, are the most hopeless and despondent franchise in the league. Glad we could wrap that up before the argument got too out of hand.
I wouldn’t even know what a playoff win feels like much less an AFC championship appearance but I bet it feels amazing I’ve lived the 8-8 going nowhere life plenty of times and the 1-3 win life is much better as you have the hope of a Trevor Lawrence, Andrew luck etc getting you through the year and hopeful for the future
No, bc I don't judge overall franchise suck level off one playoff game. The big picture is more important.
Anyone arguing they've had it worse than the Lions is delusional. Even I as a Dolphins fan feel blessed not to be the Lions
the Lions have had two of the greatest players of all time retire in their primes rather than continue playing for them.
Especially when kids born the day of your last conference title game appearance aren't even in kindergarten yet
Guys, I come here to laugh about Urban, not have the failures of my team's ineptitude re-hashed. I have plenty of other places to go on the internet when I want to do that.
