And yes, there were times it seemed like they were trying to treat it like a comedy or weren't sure what they were really trying to do, just completely overdoing it. When i walked out i thought about messaging Pelican to warn him about it, but also knew that he was still going to see it regardless, so I decided against it.
Not really a spoiler but… When they show the pics from of the victims of 78 (Lindsay, Anne, and Bob) on the news (bar scene)…the yearbook photo of “Bob” is actually the high school yearbook photo of Bob Odenkirk.
Just setting up supernatural abilities for the movies 100 years from now when he couldn't possibly still be alive.
That would be hilarious if other supernatural abilities keep popping up. Impervious to injury, then teleporting, then laser eyes, finally telekinesis.
I rewatched this tonight. Maybe I was a bit hard on it at first, but I really just didn't like the whole Tommy Doyle/mob storyline. I would have preferred more of a focus on Laurie and her family. I guess Halloween Ends is set four years later so hopefully that'll be the case with that one.
Maybe I’m overthinking this but I didn't like how they basically just made Laurie a person in the way. Nothing special about her. 2018 they reconned the brother/sister angle. This one they pointed out that Michael didn’t go looking for her/find her. It was all the crazy Dr. Loomis 2.0 bringing Michael to her compound. The cop tells her none of this is her fault and that he could have killed Michael. That Michael just wanted to go to his house. He didn’t go to the hospital looking for Laurie.
It's weird that they did that, but clearly set it up for the climactic battle between the 2 in the next film, making her definitely more than just a person. It's almost like the movie wasn't very well thought out.
What an absolute mess of a movie that entire hospital scene with the whole town looking like rabid dogs looking for that other inmate was just it’s like they had a great concept for films 1 and 3 but the studio wanted a trilogy so they just decided to throw everything they could into a film to buy time until the timeline in the 3rd occurs
I loved the mob chasing and finding Michael (and failing) but having them confuse the 5’3” mental patient for Michael was stupid as hell.
It’s because John Carpenter never wanted them to be related. It was just something he threw together because the studio wanted a sequel. The original title was The Babysitter Killer or some shit. Laurie is taking the key to Michael’s house for her dad’s real estate company, Michael sees her and decides to murder death kill her and her babysitting friends.
Netflix series "The Movies That Made Us" just came out with Season 3, and Halloween is one of the episodes. It's really good if you want to hear the creators talk about how it came together and dispel some of the internet myths. They also did Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street episodes as well.
Not a fan of trying to come up with a psychological reasoning for why Michael does what he does or the Hawkins/Laurie love story or just about anything in this movie
Oh! And the fucking BALLS of those kids stealing all of the Johns’ candy. I would have beat their asses. That skull faced bastard went into their home and then stole all of their fucking candy…AND THEN STANDS SMUGLY IN FRONT OF THEM. WTF!?! I’m raining down elbows on you
Uhhhhh. Have you watched ANY Halloween movies? You saw him get shot 5 times in the torso and fall from the second floor of a house after being stabbed in the eye and then he just got up and disappeared, right?
Did you not see the original? Or the sequel where they literally shot him in both eyes and blew him up in an O2 fueled fire?
I felt like they were good but unrealistic. kept waiting for them to go on nextdoor and complain about the neighborhood noise but nope never happened. Didn't even call the cops or leave their house.
Bear in mind, this is the SAME NIGHT he got stabbed in the neck, eye, shot in the face and shot 5 times in the torso.
None of that happened in this timeline but still he has had his fingers blown off, survived a house fire, shot, stabbed, beaten etc.
Remember that time Jason Vorhees died because a girl's dead dad jumped out of the lake, put chains around him, and took him down to the bottom? My god that was awful.
I don’t get a lot of the hate. Especially after those Rob Zombie movies. Carpenters new score for this movie is awesome.
Technically, Jason wasn’t full blown supernatural until Friday the 13th Pt. 6 after Tommy Jarvis stabbed him with a fence stake and lightning brought us zombie Jason.
I have a soft spot for zombie Jason, it’s how I always remember him. Part IV and Part I are up there. Part V does give you the classic line “damn enchiladas!” but the killer isn’t Jason.
