Im confused by this homecoming thing? Arent they traditionally crowned at halftime of the football game?
I know, and we probably will do worse. It’s just the prospect of another Florida retread doesn’t make me feel good.
"I emphasized that you did not have to cheat to win at the University of Tennessee and that cheating would not be tolerated," Fulmer told ESPN. You don't have to, but it definitely helps.
Obviously he's not even dc here so it's a way different scenario, but we love Muschamp. He's been a huge addition to the staff.
The man gets paid ridiculous amounts of money to leave his job and immediately rebounds to work at what may be a national championship squad the next year. Life is tough for ole will.
He's being weird about there being a homecoming king, because Auburn and Georgia Tech are too cool and tough for that.
Plus the bright side for UGA fans is if the NFL ever comes calling for Kirby, they have a hometown hero on deck to assume the head job!
Kirby to Bama, Muschamp takes over at UGA and Saban moves to Florida to finish out his career in the state he’ll eventually retire to anyway. Sign me up!
He really is a cool guy. Ran into him at Walgreens off 280 in Hoover and he just chat with you and grab a pick. Genuinely a nice and funny guy.
Turns out Shane Beamer is also pretty "Frank"...basically says play calling is fine and the players just suck Beamer addresses offensive play calling Spoiler South Carolina Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer realized what he set himself up for while reviewing his team's offensive play calling during the 21-20 win over Vanderbilt. “I don’t need fans now hitting me up on Twitter, giving me a list of all the bad play calls,” Beamer said, after he delivered a 420-something-word answer. “That was a figure of speech. … I try to not look at the mentions, but as soon as I said that – I can see it coming right now.” Below is the full quote, which prompted that follow-up from South Carolina’s first-year head coach. “We’ve certainly got to be better,” Beamer said. “We’re seven weeks in, so it’s no more of it’s growing pains and things like that. I mean, we’ve got to have some continuity at quarterback. We’ve got to have continuity at the receiver position, running back position, staying healthy. I know everybody wants me to sit up here and say the play-calling stinks and that’s the issue, but the play-calling on Saturday didn’t cause us to fumble or turn the ball over four times. “That play calling got us some explosive plays down into the red zone that we then fumbled. We threw two interceptions. The play call didn’t force us to have holding penalties and things like that. We all have a hand in it, and that’s not me blaming players. We’ve got to coach better. We’ve got to put our players in position, but I think on Saturday, and every game is different. You can look at – blame why we haven’t operated at a high-level, it’s all of us, myself, down to the offensive staff, down to the offensive players, and every game is different. “I look back at Saturday – I don’t think there was a play calling issue. It might not always look pretty. I don’t know what the message boards are saying right now, but I’m sure they’re nuclear right now about bad play calls. Well, I don’t know what play calls were necessarily bad. Help me out, which ones were bad on Saturday? We’ve got to be better, fundamentally, and technique-wise, to not put ourselves in those positions. “MarShawn (Lloyd) fumbled the football. At the offensive tackle position, we crossed over and not great footwork and got beat inside. MarShawn had to cut it back, then a fumble happens. Poor ball security on a couple of fumbles. Gave up a big play to Jaheim (Bell) that came back because of a holding penalty, because we set a little bit too far on a pass set and got beat inside. Just fundamental things that we can clean up, which goes back to us as coaches. “That’s been a point of emphasis with our players this week. We’ve got to be better. Forget about schemes, we’ve got to be better, fundamentally, which is coaching. And that’s what we’re trying to do. We’ve got to be better everywhere, offense, defense and special teams. We missed tackles Saturday. I don’t think that was necessarily bad play calls by Clayton White. That was, we’ve got to coach up these guys better, from a technique and fundamentals standpoint, to not miss tackles and give up explosive passes.” 111COMMENTS Beamer added, “I get it, not every play call was great, but I think you can look at a whole picture view as well.” South Carolina is 13th in the SEC in total offense (348.9 yards per game), yards per play (5.37) and points per game (21.9). Gamecocks offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield will speak with members of the media on Wednesday at 12:20 p.m.
