I’ve seen quite a few allocated bottles in stores. More often than not they are still there when I leave
I should have clarified , allocated bottles that aren't at ridiculous prices, i.e. close to MRSP. Obviously all sorts of stores have allocated bottles for secondary or worse prices. I'm talking about rolling up into some random liquor store and there's an allocated bottled just sitting there for a normal price.
Best I've done is I found a bottle of Old Fitz 9 sitting on a shelf not even behind a counter for basically MSRP.
I was, I had gone into a store to pick up some 4R OBSF for Buzz and Degausser and it was just sitting there.
With how bourbon has boomed the past year and a half, you’re almost never gonna see that. Your best bet is to find a store and develop a relationship with them. I did that at one of my local stores and have got Stagg Jr, EHTBP, 4R picks and even scored 2 4RSmBLE last year all at msrp
rarest msrp ive gotten off the shelf is probably blantons but my favorites have been ECBP, old forrester single barrels, bookers before the price went up, ezra 7, mckenna 10, 15 year knob store picks. seen the woodford very fine rare and yellowstone LEs but passed due to reviews
Not exactly sure to be honest. Willing to spend 250. Want to get something decent. Obviously that won’t get any pappy or BTAC. Not even sure what 250 gets on secondary right now.
Buffalo Trace Kosher is tasty unique and you can probably get a Rye and Wheat for that money easy with some left overs
Elmer is his favorite. I would say something not crazy hot so under 115-120 proof. Could we get a limited four roses for that price? Or a good Willett?
Christ I would hope so. Wanted to get something different than that. All my Facebook groups have dried up so I don’t know what anything is going for.
This is kinda what I’m thinking. I don’t want to spend 250 on a bottle I bought for 40 3 years ago for this gift.
If you’re not opposed to spending a little more if you can find a Wild Turkey 17 year bottled in bond, I think they move for around $300 and they are wonderful. I’m about 3/4 through mine.
sem I’m driving up your way around the Christmas holiday. Let’s have a drink and trade some store picks.
For some reason neither the Yellowstone or the Ezra Brooks gets me that excited: YellowStone 115 Proof "Orange Spice" Age 4 years 8 months, 115 Proof with a barrel yield of 234 bottles. Price $64.48 + tax with a 3 bottle limit! YellowStone 115 Proof "Leather Cream" Age 4 years 9 months, 115 Proof with a barrel yield of 234 bottles. Price $64.48 + tax with a 3 bottle limit! Ezra Brooks Cask Strength 120 Proof "Summer 2" Age 5 years 3 months, 120 Proof with a barrel yield of 228 bottles. Price $54.91 + tax with a 3 bottle limit! All 3 of these bottles are available in store to taste!
Think the Ezra Brooks Distillers Selections like that have been around $40. I could be wrong, but that sounds way high (could just be a function of the current market though.)
Barrel proof dawg. I got the Houston TX Total Wine pick of this for 70 and I enjoyed it enough I went back and got another bottle.
Any cognac drinkers in here? I'm not usually one for infused/sweet cigars but had a Fat Bottom Betty last night and, with a glass of Hardy cognac, it was pretty damn good.
