Planet Ocean or a different Omega. Black watches look generic and cheap. Although that one is badass.
Watch this week: Moon Watch. I wear this quite a bit. Jealous of those getting the new model, and superior bracelet with micro-adjustments Worried about the Hesilite crystal initially, but my concern has proven to be unfounded. This was a daily wear, until I went ham about 2 years ago… can’t recall the last time I was compelled to polish. Spoiler
My take away thus far... I wake up looking forward to the morning wind ritual. Every collector should have at least one manual movement
Agree. I like to wind with the open case back facing me so I can see the movement spring () to life. However, with the caveat that setting calendar functions on a manual wind or non quickset are a major PITA.
Yeah, the date function on my NOMOS is cool, but archaic & annoying as hell. I wish my OCD didn't obligate me to correct it when worn
Congrats on your new DateJust two-toned motif & the opportunity to purchase what you REALLY want down the road
Well, what did the AD want? Mine has called my about 3-4 times in the last 2 weeks, causing my heart to skip a beat. Sadly she's merely hounding me to purchase some jewelry for the wife
I don’t have those Degausser Instagram skills, but it’s the OP41. Absolutely love it, love the size which is awesome because I was worried about my baby wrists.
been going back and forth between the OP and Datejust. That looks great, leaning me back towards the OP.
Is having a date and polished center links worth $1700? Or date and jubilee bracelet worth $2000 to you? Outside of a costlier fluted bezel and some dial variations, that’s your difference. And ongoing service costs will be higher with a date.
The datejust is a better looking watch imo, especially if it’s your first. The OP is kind of a quirky watch. I love this or even something similar in black
Had a business lunch today and one of the older guys there had a Rolex pocket watch - probably the first time I've seen someone rock the pocket watch option for regular use. I assumed vintage (good condition) would be fairly expensive but he said it was only a $3,000 purchase. That's a strong pretentious/cost ratio.
Just got this from a guy I work with. He also just bought the white Daytona, has the hulk, and like 30+ rolexes and pateks. I’d kill for the 5711
The OP is great, and you are right on the cost side but the DJ can come with a smooth bezel and an oyster bracelet.
Agree, but liked this model. Being offered at a good price. Just not sure I can pull off a 46mm watch. Don't love the band either. Would probably put a stainless steel mesh band on it. Spoiler: Super Ocean Heritage 46mm
I'm sure the quality and movement are great and they are super limited but man those Richard Mille watches just ain't it. Especially for $500k to $2m or whatever. I don't get it at all.
I mean, of all people, you should get it. Unless I’m reading the sneaker thread wrong. They make sense for their place in the market. I went from hating them, to indifferent, to having a few I’d consider picking up as a complement to my collection if the opportunity arose. I’d say the hit rate of pieces I’ve seen v. pieces I like has to be way up there, though.
There's sneakers that go for a ton that I think are ugly too. The RM's are just so gaudy. And $2m for a rubber strap? I don't know enough a out watches to appreciate the complexity of them, I'm just talking about how they look.
Yeah, most are really ugly. The straps fit that style, though. Like I said, they have a place, but shouldn’t be at the top of any list.
Anyone have experience with Tsao Baltimore? I’m digging this watch. Just starting to get into this stuff. https://tsaobaltimore.com/products/legacy-bronze-blue-fume
