So to build on this, these mother fuckers didn't have my bottle THAT I PURCHASED ON THEIR WEBSITE BTW. The website hadn't been updated and they were out.... So I ended up getting Wilderness Trail Small Batch BiB... Honestly, it's not that bad. Still salty they didn't have my bottle tho
I see a deal for 2 WSR for $100 conus included-that's not a bad deal. I think WSR is better than most of the $50 + bottles I get even if it really retails for like $27.
Agree. WSR is probably my least favorite bottle in my bar. I only use it to mix. 107 is pretty damn good though.
Five years ago I used to get OWA in 1.75s fairly regularly for about $45. I used to mix them with ginger beer to make mules.
No one is saying they hate it. We’re commenting on the direction this market has taken in the last five years.
Lets take that on the high side of secondary and say that this is a $600 markup. So assuming: Those bottles are made available at 10am Saturday. People have arrived at 3pm on Thursday. That is roughly 43 hours of their lives given up as they “camp” in an asphalt strip mall parking lot. $600 / 43hrs = $13.95/hr You’re earning $14 dollars per hour in exchange for being away from your family and life for nearly two whole days. Conversely, sacking up and paying the $600 is saying, “yep, I value my time at a rate greater than $14/hr.” These idiots and their though processes are unbelievable.
Any thoughts on the 1792 FP store pic? My local has quite a few that they were pimping when I went in today.
The bourbon game is stupid. I don't hunt nearly as much as I used to. If I get the occasional cool bottle, awesome, but I'm not going out of my way to look anymore.
I think it’s a great barre proof $45 bottle. Obviously I haven’t had your store’s pick, so if it’s shit, it’s their fault
Won an OF Birthday 2020 and a RR13 at my local store's raffle. Will be picking up when I get back into town Sunday.
Same. It’s frustrating that I’m not seeing ECBP any more. But I value my time way too much to waste it camping out for this shit. And additionally, there’s so much great stuff that’s available now if you know what to look for: Wild Turkey 101 Russell Reserve 10 Dovetail Stellum bourbon and rye Pikesville Makers Mark variants Chattanooga Whiskey wheat mash bill store picks
Meanwhile, this bottle has been sitting in my bourbon closet waiting for you since you left it over here in 2019…
1792 fp store pick? Or 1792 bib store pick? One of the local stores has both but ehh the last 1792 I had was 12 year and it was underwhelming.
Yeah I get plenty of enjoyment from a lot of regular bottles. Now instead of hunting for rare overpriced stuff when I'm in Louisville visiting family, I just go to my regular places and grab their store picks of my regular bourbons. Probably my favorite part of my bourbon hobby is tasting how much the store picks can vary.
FP and BIB are probably my 2 favorite 1792 bottles. Store picks are almost always even better than the original.
Debating picking up a 1792 FP store pick, but also trying to cut down on bourbon spending for a second. Definitely picking up an RR they have, though.
