It needs a delay. The speed and slide speed need to be toned way down. Guessing the operator system is too baked in for any significant change there unfortunately.
Also the fact that they STILL allow overlapping keybinds is objectively fucking stupid At least they throw a warning when you do it now
as much as we’re shitting on the game, I think the tornado and rocket launch are awesome. Please Dice just fix your core gameplay loop.
There are definitely some awesome things here. Might even be a good game with the bugs worked out. Just not really the game I wanted. I literally just wanted BF4 with updated visuals. This game feels so far from BF4.
I love mixing it up with boots otg on battlefield. Play objective heavy on big team and play a lot of small team stuff. Typically a 1.2/1.5 KD 1000 plus spm guy who never sets foot in a vehicle. That video up there looks cool to me but I understand why so many are bummed. I think they’re trying to catch the COD players who are bummed at the fact that the arena had been abandoned on COD in favor of warzone
I like them too, as posted previously. Just those are both purely cosmetic, make the game good before you add that shit. Again I’m still buying, idgaf, just makes no sense at all.
Played for the first time tonight. I’ve played bf games since 1942 and this is not it. I felt completely lost and the mechanics were off. Maybe I’ll get used to it, but my initial impression was mediocre at best.
The loss of roles and classes just makes it feel like something else. Add on the speed of movement and it just doesn't feel like Battlefield. Not the Battlefield I love.
Been reading and watching people’s reaction and this is what I’ve gathered on gunplay. They’ve snuck in the terrible gunplay changes they tried to force into bfv and added some new changes all in an effort to dumb it down and increase TTK. Bullet spread while ADS being the most egregious of these changes. Another big change is player model size.
i was wondering about this. it's not like i have great aim but compared to bf4 i was missing constantly with the dmr at relatively long but reasonable distances and yeah, in the distance people look like ants
The combo of slightly slower bullet velocity (which I wouldn’t normally mind), increased bullet spread, fast unnatural movement, what I believe is weaker damage per bullet, and tiny player models is creating this lack luster gun play.
the reflection from scopes in the distance is also crazy bright. maybe this was done to counter the removal of the marking system from bf4, which i loved
I’m wondering if they double scope glint because of map size, which is understandable, and player model size. The ping/marking is completely bugged in the beta so I’ll won’t drag that too hard. A modern and dynamic ping system is a must these days.
Having played a lot more of it, there's a lot wrong. No defined roles based on specialists, seen a lot of medic snipers. As everyone has mentioned already, everyone looks the fucking same, I imagine that has to change before release. They nixed a lot of BFV movement mechanics, and those are some of the best things in that game. Needs a lot of QOL changes before release, and then they still have core flaws. I know BFV got shit on, but at its heart it is a good game. I have played so many hours, and I really enjoy it. It got fucked by a ridiculously inept marketing campaign, delays, and unnecessary TTK updates. Feel like they learned nothing from it right now.
Jumped on some V for old times sake and you can immediately tell what 42 is lacking. I dont expect the same game just saying you can see a lot of what people are complaining about. It's been a while since I was on V as well.
At this point I'm kind of hoping Portal is the miracle that saves 2042 but since it's built on the backbone of 2042 I'm sure it will still play like it unfortunately.
I might still buy it but it kind of depends on what the group I play with does Also tbh I don't see how the operator stuff is superior to more rigid classes considering that's one of the reasons people like battlefield so much
I'm probably going to cancel for now and then see how things go post launch. Just don't trust it right now.
* turns out it's a take the article as you will. I don't know the author. https://gamingintel.com/battlefield-2042s-troubled-development-and-identity-crisis/ "Basically beta build not as old as we think, BattleFront II management heavily influencing this game & Modern Warfare 2019 drove a lot of design decisions (why Classes are gone basically)."
He's a fairly well known leaker. Especially where BF is concerned. But he's not 100% accurate. I'm going to hold off on pre ordering and see how Portal is. If it's good then I'll snag it.
They let the guys who lost the Star Wars license and have the most down voted comment in Reddit history take control? That’s infinitely better looking than the specialists. Still crap gameplay though.
Sounds like a complete cluster fuck. I expect nothing less from EA. Place is so poorly ran. It's just all about figuring out how they can extract the most money out of us.
I like how the waived off any criticism in their “what we learned blog” by essentially saying everyone was playing the game wrong. Pathetic I highly suggest any console users come play hell let loose.
Just cancelled my preorder off of that. No way I’m paying full price for this game. Really dont understand why it’s so hard to stick with what worked on bf3/4 and update graphics/maps etc…
Hoping you're right. Being able to switch the ttk back to "classic" is nice. Still waiting to see if the movement and weapon handling are reverted back to classic or else I might be skipping this year completely. It would be the first battlefield I've not bought since Bad Company
I already cancelled my pre order. Going to see how things go post launch. I have zero faith in dice anymore.
Played some BF1 again recently on PS5. Still a great game. I didn’t expect a ton but virtually nothing for servers and maps.
That trailer is actually halfway good and the maps look awesome. I’m going to give it a try and probably make my mind up in a few matches.
Jack said that Antartica map is the biggest map they ever put out. Can't say that's appealing, I hate when the maps require you run 3/4 a mile to get shot in 5-10 seconds.
