Brett Hodges was incredibly average but we had not seen competent QB play in so long everyone was like wtf is Joe Montana reincarnated doing here.
It makes no sense. We were already not throwing the ball. I could understand having both on the field at the same time. But this subbing this is ridiculous.
It's not just the subbing. It's the plays he comes in for. There's no point in changing if that's what you're doing. And gatewood is not a real run threat to give the defense any confusion
Lol I was at that ucf/uf game and had the audacity to say out loud "who the heck is that they're bringing in?" When tebow came in early and I had no clue who he was. But oh boy did the fans around me let me know
If Gus could put ego aside and hire an innovative OC and just be a HC I think he would be wildly successful here.
At least calabrese was effective, very effective at running the wild knight. Keene so far hasn’t been effective, even a little effective at much of anything
I’m not here yet. I think the playbook is extremely limited with the injuries and who he has left on the field. Then add in the fact that our receiver group can’t catch a cold or even get open half the time and the OL cant consistently protect the QB for anything longer then a 3 step drop and you have our offense. The Gatewood shit is infuriating though. That really makes zero sense to me
let us not forget that *super bowl champion* greco had a fan big enough to name himself greco2aiken on the rivals board. i'd take rocky ross's white knighting dad right about now.
Just watched some Peach Bowl highlights to get the stink of last nights game out of my nose. Absolutely stacked with NFL talent everywhere. Malpractice that Heupel couldn’t build off that foundation.
In 3 years looking back at our last few classes it will be so depressing. If he had more than 4 hits a class I'd be surprised.
I’m 12-14 on calling the last 14 Tennessee offensive plays. That’s probably not a good sign for Tennessee huh?
I don’t follow recruiting at all anymore, but a friend that does is real hyped about this kid https://247sports.com/Article/Jorda...ootball-recruiting-Gus-Malzahn-173661411/Amp/
J Flash was basically a game time decision last week. Might suit up this week per Gus’s presser Also this is cool I guess
What is the best case to salvage the season at this point? I think a visit to the CCG is out of the question, but here is the path. We have to win out for any hope. Temple seems beatable and if by some miracle we have DG, Bowser, and JFlash back for Tulane at home, we can beat SMU. Cinci: Cinci isn't gonna lose 3 games, so we have to play for 2nd place. SMU: SMU plays Houston this week, we need an SMU win SMU loses to Cinci SMU loses to UCF We outrank SMU Head to Head Houston: Houston Loses to SMU Houston would need to drop 1 more game, (USF, Temple, Memphis, UConn) and I really don't see it on the schedule for them. But if they did drop one then the tie breaker would be "Record against the next highest placed team in the division" so probably SMU, and in this scenario we rank ahead of Houston. Tulsa: Tulsa loses to Cinci Tulsa loses to SMU 3 Conference losses, we outrank them
UConn isn’t a conference game. Not that Houston would lose to them anyway. Memphis would be the only one with a chance there.
Honestly, there is a lot of playing time that can be earned for these incoming freshman. It's still a very desirable place to go.
I really hope Fickell gets scooped up by USC or LSU. But he seems like a smarter Frost. Someone who can actually build something big. Especially with the pending B12 move.
If PSU opens up I think he would take that job. He would have crazy resources and outside OSU there is nothing but shit in the B10 right now.
I feel like I saw we had 19 scholarships available this year. I'd imagine we also process a bunch of kids after the season to take advantage of the seven additional slots for kids who go into the transfer portal. The good news is that the defensive backs have been slowly improving and are no longer the worst unit on the defense (looking at you, linebackers). For next season and 2023, I'd imagine they become a real strength for us. At DL, we should still have TMB, Goode, Barber, Celiscar as a starting four with Woodson, Hester, and a couple others behind them. Not the best, but not awful. Biggest concern going into next season would be OL. I'm assuming Jackson and Schneider don't take advantage of the extra year. That means we only return Matt Lee and Lokahi Pauole. After that, it's all new guys on the OL. Regardless, I suspect Gus is going to do a lot to upgrade the depth chart between these last couple HS recruits, up to 7 transfers to replace our own portal entrees, and then he can start taking some transfer portal guys after the spring that would count against the recruiting class for 2023 (kind of like he did with Bowser and Big Kat).
