no, I actually don’t. I just don’t think he had somebody completely in line to hire. The coaches that said is telling to me. He was putting out the feelers and it seemed a ‘reach’ he could get who he wanted. Trev didn’t want to take a leap of faith on somebody and this allows Frost to fix it or hang himself (since 50% of the fanbase still wants him!) he made a decision for himself and based on the optics. If he fails he is a shit and forever looked at as a shit. If Frost works he is a genius, if he doesn’t he has another year to find and get his best candidate.
You fuckers (me too!) always about making the right choice based on optics but Trev just got himself another year with a huge contract and Frost either makes it work or he hangs himself and Trev gets more backing. Look at this like a job. It’s hilarious how many of you don’t do that. A million dollars doesn’t give you look at the situation from a ‘best for the situation’ standpoint . He doesn’t have generational wealth lmao. frost coming back weirdly gives him all the leverage. I hate it, I get it for Trev.
If I decided to pass off a decision to fire a failing employee for an entire year because it’s unpopular and cost the company millions in the meantime i myself would prob be fired. Real job things
Trev makes 800K a year, the rest is based on performance incentives so he ain’t getting those at this rate.
To be fair, firing Frost is an incredibly easy decision. If Trev can’t do that ASAP he is an abject failure.
Yes, I think that’s possibly when that employee is liked by a majority of the company (our dipshit fans, good lord you need to read the room outside of this thread) and the people you can replace him with are thin and the better companies looking for people to replace (lsu, Florida, USc) are also looking to poach from those jobs. This GIVES him a chance to see if Frost works (it won’t but it still allows him the chance to be proven wrong…and thus, right!) or he gets a chance to pick a coach. Trev gave himself 2 more years and it sucks for us but that doesn’t make him a dipshit.
Trev worrying about what some chuds who are yelling “let’s go Brandon” in bathrooms at memorial stadium think as opposed to what’s best for the athletic department makes him a dipshit.
hey bud, I hate it too, but I get it. I had shit calling this out several months before it happened so I’m not a Johnny come lately. I’m either a smart Oz (no) or this shit is going to happen at Nebraska. we all hate it, trust me, I’m as mad as you and it’s why I went full Oz today. But that’s Nebraska football at this point. To try to paint it in rainbows and sunshine is beyond the point.
Thinking that there’s ever a time when these fuckin jagaloons will think ya know maybe Frost actually sucks is just a gross miscalculation. They don’t do that.
did trev really want to fire him but couldn't or is that something we're telling ourselves to feel better?
I’m pretty sure Trev was window shopping. Not sure who all he was looking at, but they must’ve said no, or he didn’t feel confident they were the answer.
Took a set from them for the first time in like 2 years. That’s called improvement guys, for anyone who forgot
Frost has to figure out his offensive philosophy and QB use. There’s a reason that absolutely nobody else in the big ten runs their QB 12+ times a game. There’s a reason none of them have their QBs lead their teams in attempts and yardage. The option has frequently looked really good this season but you have to run the ball with your running backs in this conference and your QB has to be able to throw the ball downfield as his primary responsibility.
Trev made a comment that became the name of this thread. unless him and Scoots are ok, a long-term bet you don’t make that comment.
I don’t really see any way Scott ever wins more than 5 games. He’s easily the worst coach in the West and probably 11th or worse in the conference. Husker football is officially dead
No he said it. I guess Dirk even asked if he thinks that’s good for the team psychology to basically say all we need to do is win one, and basically at this point imbed in their brains until we win one we won’t…which I do agree with.
The craziest thing is how many people will consistently point to how close this team was to winning *some* more of these games. Yes, ok, so you’re saying this three-win team could’ve won six games. 1. They did not. But more importantly, 2. Is six wins the standard around here?
