I kind of assume that for all chefs with other big city outposts. In most cases the Vegas versions are still great, but it has to be about impossible to recreate the atmosphere and quality on that scale
I’ve eaten at a lot of places in Vegas and possibly the best meal I’ve had was at Carbone last time we were there. At least for my experience bazaar meats was a disappointment but I think that was 3-4 years ago.
The Bazaar tasting menu is legit. The cotton candy foie gras is insane. The two higher end menus I like, though the suckling pig was disappointing and not really worth the premium. Best meal I've had in Vegas was the Krug room in the kitchen of Guy Savoy. A four hour private wine and tasting feast. Probably the best meal I've had in the States. I've been meaning to try é by Jose Andres in the Cosmo but it hasn't worked out for my schedule yet. Dollar for dollar, the Golden Steer experience is still the best. Major old Vegas vibes.
Going in a few weeks for the Chiefs Raiders game. Anyone gone to one of the following: * Friday night - going to Beauty & Essex in the Cosmo. The chef/co-owner of the place is has been dating one of my friends from high school/college for years. * Later Friday night: Seeing Absinthe as I haven't really seen a Vegas show so doing a bit more an "adultish" night in Vegas vs the previous bachelor party-esque weekends I've spent there. * Spa - I enjoy on a hungover Saturday to go to a steam room and basically sweat out all of the previous night toxins. Are these fully open? Getting mixed feedback looking online. If anyone has gone to the sauna/steam room in either Mandalay Bay or Planet Hollywood, I'd welcome your feedback.
Cheifs Raiders is 11/14 I'll be there that weekend. spending Saturday Morning/Afternoon at Circa I think. when I was there in March Sauna/Steam rooms werent open but massages were. I just called and they are open just depends on the place
You’ll enjoy Absinthe. Spring for first row or table seating if it isn’t too late. Beauty & Essex is excellent. As far as Spas I haven’t been to any of them, but my wife really likes those at Luxor and the Mirage. Even when we stayed at Aria she would go to those.
For those of you in Vegas this Thursday, the Culinary Union is staging a rally. There will be thousands. You should plan on delays between Harmon Avenue (south side of Cosmopolitan) and Paris Drive (Paris Las Vegas). https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local...wn-part-of-las-vegas-strip-thursday-at-5-p-m/
Trying to figure out a good, early dinner spot near the MGM Garden Arena. It’d have to be around 4pm so a lot of places I’ve checked aren’t open yet.
TAP Sports bar had decent food, I think. Eataly if you’re not worried about extra walk time. Where you coming from?
How is Vegas on Thanksgiving weekend? Just an idea that popped into my head. Prime sports betting weekend. Is it cheaper and can still have fun? Or is it just sad?
Was in Vegas with family for Thanksgiving 2 years ago. Was a good experience, crowd was probably 75% international.
I would have to think it would be a lot of college kids that don't want to spend time with their parents
my parents will be there and Hotel prices are insane that Friday for some reason when it's usually quiet
flying in next Saturday for WSOP. Anyone that has been there this past month. How's the uber situation? Had a hard time getting them when I was there in March ANTWONE
Bazaar Meat was good. Jose Andres' tiny portions aren't my thing, although everything was awesome. Bouchon was better.
Beauty & Essex and Absinthe were great. The MC for Absinthe was soo funny. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I'd highly recommend that show to others as long as they are comfortable with some over the top sexual jokes. Also, don't sit in the front row if you don't want to get roasted. Ate at Strip House in PH Saturday night. Pretty standard steakhouse but was able to accommodate 9 people on a Saturday night with a reservation made that week so kinda tells you where it fits in. Biggest issue when planning that dinner is I did not expect the Jayhawks to beat Texas so wish I was in a place like Circa sportsbook and not watching OT on my phone. Raiders fans were all pretty friendly to us as Chiefs fans. Probably because more of them are new or casual fans vs the former Oakland blackhole crowd.
Parents are gonna be in Vegas December 3rd-5th and I thought about meeting up with them. Good hotels on the strip that weekend are ~$500. A decent direct round trip flight from San Diego is $400. Looks like I'll be passing on that. Seems really expensive, but what do I know?
Knights and Raiders are both home that weekend. Raider weekends with fans are new this years and are likely messing with the usual idea of what weekends are and are not busy.
Is there a reference post ITT? or just need to read through it all? thinking of planning an impromptu trip during the week in December. Would want to stay somewhere fairly nice, nothing crazy. Gamble, eat nice meals, etc. fairly normal shit
Find the best deal for a room on the strip not at: Harrahs Flamingo Linq Excalibur Tropicana Circus Circus that’s about it.
Booked for the cosmopolitan. Got their cyber Monday deal and a 150 dollar credit for food and drinks. Excited to pop my cherry
Don’t force anything. Make a dinner and maybe a show plan, let the rest just come as it comes. Book a Cosmo or other service limo/car. Absinthe comes highly recommended. I love Love. Personally, I like to walk the whole strip and pop in everywhere. At first I wanted to see it all. Now it’s like a catch up and I buzz by or through places I don’t like as much. Other people don’t leave their hotel, save for maybe one planned dinner/club outing.
Plan to definitely walk around and see the other resorts while enjoying what cosmopolitan has to offer. I’ll look for nice restaurant recs in here and we will likely just plan for one baller dinner. Excited to just experience it all and not gonna force anything
I tend to be up early regardless of night-prior, so I get a breakfast tall boy from ABC/CVS/Walgreens and stroll early. Refreshing and quiet/empty. Back to the hotel early afternoon to hang out, pool or whatever before evening.
So I was looking to get my bff tickets to Adele for the Vegas residency. Assuming if (when) I get shut out if the presale, what is the next best route to try and come up with tickets? Normal online resale sites or any other avenue? I have no status with any of the resorts.
Quiet or popping? Popping id go to Caesar’s. Quiet check out Mandalay Bay if you don’t mind walking. If money isn’t a concern, I’d head to circa downtown.
