Was Helton that great at bringing talent in, I was always amazed when um would be recruting a cali kid heavy then greg biggins would come on a um board and say um may be leading but usc doesn’t really start recruting instate kids until December. Incredible how easy it is to recruit at usc.

His classes were generally heavily weighted to certain position groups. Beyond that, The Athletic reported that his staff would actually request that their commits get ranked higher by the recruiting publications in return for access.

So you had some really overrated classes that didn’t create complete rosters and a whole lot of busts.
