i mean i guess the only job i could see him leaving for would be bama when saban retires unless he leaves for Miami now i guess texas if sark sucks shit for a few years and gets canned
I really want someone to ask Belichick the same question they asked Tomlin about any college coaching position to see the response. Should be quality content.
Most of the lists will have stoops and venables as the top 2 candidates Bob is going to be able to handpick the coach it seems
I don't see Stoops going that path. Venables makes a lot of sense. We also have to weigh the fact that OU typically goes young playcaller/asst coach with new hires. Lincoln Riley: 34, Broyles Award-winning OC Bob Stoops: 38, DC for national champion Florida John Blake: 37, DL coach for SB Champ Cowboys Gary Gibbs: 37, national champion DC for OU Barry Switzer: 29, record-breaking OC for OU Chuck Fairbanks: 34, assistant for Oklahoma
Just a little something I came across: Nebraska had 3 coaches from 1962-2003, and then they started cycling through coaches every 3 to 4 years and are still in the woods. Tennessee had just 4 coaches from 1964-2008. Now they’re on their fifth head coach in little more than a decade and have struggled even being mediocre. OU hasn't had to conduct a coaching search since 1999. I'm sure their program will continue rolling along with no problems.
I don't think it'll hit that, but Ole Miss alumni are all-in on Lane and will do what it takes to keep him.
Stoops' brother is involved in the Oklahoma program. Very involved. Brent Venables was fired at Oklahoma and it took awhile for him to get over how that went down with Mike Stoops.
Just listened to a USC reaction pod to the Riley news and whoa boy I am now firmly on team this will be bad for the sport.
I tend to agree. I think that the "desirable job" list is small for him, but I don't think he has any allegiance to us. I don't really blame him, either. Get it while you can.
No he wasn’t fired. Bob brought his brother back. Was going to be Co-DC again instead of sole DC. He got a better offer.
Doesn't seem like there'll be nearly as much salt if he leaves for OU (for an example) as there was when he was at Tennessee and left for USC.
Will be funny to see them blame Riley for something that was already gonna happen regardless and something they were cool with two days ago lol.
with a bunch of OUs players entering the portal and their recruiting class losing a bunch of their better players who exactly will want this job other than a coordinator or a group of 5 coach? a decimated roster entering the SEC while fans' expectations are 10 wins minimum is a good recipe for your career to get killed.
If Oklahoma has any talented defensive players or offensive linemen with a sense of humor looking to transfer, might I recommend the University of Tennessee.
10 win seasons gets an offseason of calls into the Sports Animal demanding people be fired. OU fans are basically Bama fans without any rings
OU fans on twitter are insistent that they are a national power. do they really think they're going to be competing for SEC championships? The Aggies basically have better everything and are winning 8 games
they were PISSED about this season completely ungrateful fan base considering they win the fucking conference every year bob only got them one championship and people forget he was pushed out because people were tired of him and mike
is he though? Tennessee fans will be happy with 8 win seasons for a couple more years. do that in norman and your next job is as a coordinator or in akron ohio
...isn't OU top 10 all time in like everything? Wins, bowls, conferences, NCs. "Derp is Aggie a better job"
