My original point was Kelly never took big shots at QB. Allar was an example, but Kelly’s career at ND was taking the guy he liked and that always led to mediocre QBs. Maybe it’s different but he really hasn’t had any real pro QB success and you’d think he’d luck into one in thirty years.
Buchner could be very good. Or at least I thought so out of high school. Not sure what if anything he’s done since graduating. But was highly regarded.
It’ll be interesting. He didn’t play his junior or senior he year and unless something drastic happens he’s the guy next year. He showed flashes and is an excellent runner. Hopefully the next OC utilizes him.

If you think Fickell is the better option than Freeman but don't want to wait then you really think short term. Even if you lose 3-5 players because of the delay you can still announce him and have him recruit and begin the process. Scott Frost managed to win a national title while employed by Neb.
