for anyone as dumb as alecuck, mimosie drive is a 2 lane country road with no businesses or sidewalks. so yeah it’s dangerous in the sense of literally every rural road ever due to cars and literally nothing else
he’s caught in another lie that multiple sc people can disprove so he’s just lashing out to tell us all why it’s totally necessary for him to be captain pew pew pew
There's a Yellowsnow Road in Fairbanks, Alaska. Maybe our resident Alaskan can tell us about that one.
One person in this thread lives and works in these areas every day. I'll defer to that person's judgement.
1st part was good for you still knowing cops suck at their job 2nd part was trying to imagine situations of occupation would make you scared and the people you deal w aren't happy you are doing your job Idiot
Did I tell you about that one time or did you find that elsewhere? Real Subaru Outback/Toyota Tacoma neighborhood
Pretty sure you mentioned it over beers with other tmb'ers when we were in that Zoom call a couple years ago
Why would they conceal carry? Guns are for hunting animals, protection from animals (like in bear country), or (statistically) blowing your own brains out inside your own home.
You got excited about 4 pages in a mass shooting thread? What were you hoping happened in the last 4 pages instead?
Admittedly, I keep thinking I have my browser left on the Trumpocalypse thread so I just read whatever has been posted since I last checked. Now it makes sense why someone was defending their right to play GI Joe for several pages. Cliffs: prl is getting older and doesn’t understand technology
if you can’t understand why people feel this way after 20 years of mass shootings and the NRA blocking compromises supported by its own members I don’t know what to tell you
Just because I left a bunch of live hand grenades in a box on my front porch with a sign that says hand grenades please don't take them and then a kid took one and accidentally killed himself and his friends is on that kid, man.
I’m under the impression that you care more about hobbyists than kids being in constant danger in school and being forced to endure traumatic events that scar them for life. You can own a gun in America without me thinking your brain is the consistency of congealed dog shit. There should be no open carry allowed anywhere if you’re a private citizen. People shouldn’t feel they have to conceal carry *just in case* because, let’s be honest, how many of those that do have ever been in a situation where they needed to? Most of us are tired of being behind a truck at a red light that has their big dumb “baby on board” sticker that has a picture of a semiautomatic weapon. Do you think that’s a responsible gun owner that we should all feel safe in the presence of? Are they of sound body and mind? How are we supposed to feel assured that that person isn’t showing up where they shouldn’t be just looking for an excuse to use their gun?
Just catching up but got a good laugh out of something 5 miles away being down the street. "Babe, I'm heading down the street" "You walking to David's to watch football?" "No, driving to Clearwater."
Oh, spare me the fucking unethical consumerism. When the PSL starts manufacturing firearms and ammunition I'll be sure to give them my business.
The people you're describing aren't the people shooting up schools. Not that it matters since both groups can fuck off back to lego land.
They actually did it. When mentioned this was happening, I thought no way Oxford school shooting: Ethan Crumbley appointed lawyer by court after parents only hired their own Spoiler Rachel Sharp Tue, December 7, 2021, 9:01 AM·4 min read Michigan school shooting suspect Ethan Crumbley has been appointed an attorney by the court after his parents hired their own high-profile legal team but not a lawyer to represent their son on his murder and terrorism charges. Paulette Michel Loftin, a little known defence attorney based out of Rochester, Detroit, was appointed by court officials on Thursday to represent the 15-year-old alleged mass shooter. Ms Loftin told the Detroit Free Press she had been appointed at the request of the teenager because he could not afford to hire his own attorney. Defendants are entitled to a court-appointed attorney, funded by the taxpayer, when they can prove they do not have the funds to pay for their defence themselves. But, while the suspect’s parents Jennifer and James Crumbley appeared to choose not to foot their son’s legal bill, they took the step to hire two high-powered attorneys to represent themselves before they purportedly went on the run last week. The Crumbleys had retained Shannon Smith and Mariell Lehman even before prosecutors charged them each with four charges of involuntary manslaughter in connection to last week’s deadly shooting. Ms Smith has represented a number of high-profile clients in recent years including disgraced former USA Gymnastics team doctor and convicted sex offender Larry Nassar, who was accused of using his position of power to sexually abuse more than 250 victims over two decades. He was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison on child porn charges and an additional 40 to 175 years in Michigan State prison for child sexual assault. Ms Smith has also represented Jumana Nagarwala, who was charged with performing female genital mutilation in a landmark trial that was thrown out by a judge in September. The Crumbleys’ decision not to pay for their son’s defence comes suggests they may be trying to distance themselves from any culpability for his alleged actions. Criminal defence attorney Bill Swor told Detroit Free Press that the Crumbleys most likely can’t afford to pay for their son’s expensive murder trial, particularly given that they too are facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted. “In some ways, the parents have got a harder case than the kid,” he said. “They’re adults and he’s a child, and the father bought the gun. The mother made the (social media) postings, and public officials... made public statements that are very prejudicial.” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald brought charges against the Crumbleys on Friday saying they had bought their son the firearm used in the shooting as a Christmas present and ignored multiple warning signs about the impending violence. The couple then appeared to go on the run, failing to show for their arraignment that afternoon, sparking a huge manhunt. Law enforcement officials tracked the couple down and arrested them early Saturday morning at an art studio in a warehouse in Detroit close to the Canadian border where they said the Crumbleys were “hiding”. Their attorneys have repeatedly denied that the couple were trying to evade authorities, instead claiming it was a “matter of logistics” around when and how they would turn themselves in. Jennifer and James Crumbley pictured in their booking photos following their arrests on Saturday morning (EPA) Authorities said charges may also be brought against artist Andrzej Sikora, who allegedly helped the couple hide inside his studio. Mr Sikora has spoken out to claim he did not know the couple had been charged when he let them hide out in the commercial space. Ethan has been charged as an adult with 24 charges including one count of terrorism and four counts of murder after he allegedly opened fire inside Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan, on 30 November. Four students - Tate Myre, 16, Hana St. Juliana, 14, Madisyn Baldwin, 17, and Justin Shilling, 17 - were all killed in the massacre while one teacher and six other students were wounded. Ethan was taken into custody at the scene. Ms Loftin told the Free Press she had spoken with her client but would not be commenting on the charges until she receives information on the evidence in the case, “There are thousands of pages of discovery that I will need to review so that we can make an informed decision about whether or not we wish to have the preliminary exam,” she said. All three Crumbleys are now being held in Oakland County Jail where they are denied any contact with each other.
the move with guns in this country is feigning ignorance while remaining defiant instead they sent texts to attempt to cover their asses, lawyering up for themselves but not him. Saw speculation the gun purchase was so the kid could off himself. Hard to imagine a plea deal materializing for either of them given what we know, have a feeling some of the evidence at trial is going to be beyond the pale
I am BY NO MEANS defending aiolicock here but this is a shitty argument. Per that logic the only people who should wear seatbelts are people who have already been in a car wreck before, condoms are only for people who have contracted an STD or gotten pregnant before, etc
This is obscenely stupid. People enter driving or sexual interactions that have proven and inevitable risks if they don’t take those measures. Going to work or the grocery store doesn’t have a high probability of being assaulted or killed.
And neither is going to school? If it is a question/matter of statistical probability then you acknowledge mass shootings, school shootings are statistically insignificant? This is where the reactionary emo brains slip up. You can’t be data driven on some issues and emotionally driven on others. Well you can, but then you’ll be dbl. It’s a bizarre balancing act in this thread. School shooting: omg we have to do something about guns, this happens too often, our kids shouldn’t have to live with this new reality. Conceal carry: you’ll never use it, statistically it’s very unlikely you’ll ever be in a situation where you need it, what an idiot.
There’s no inconsistency. The answer to both of those issues is simple - fewer guns and fewer people worshipping guns as problem solving tools.
You’re just wrong though. What’s an inevitable risk? It’s not inevitable you’ll get pregnant or catch an STD from unprotected sex or get severely injured if driving without a seatbelt. There’s not even a high probability. Most people go their entire lives without being in a car wreck, so per dbl’s line of thinking they are dumb for protecting against a hypothetical event that has never happened if they wear a seatbelt
Wearing a seatbelt doesn’t statistically increase the chance of accident and wearing a condom doesn’t statistically increase likelihood of STD or Pregnancy.
Yeah that’s not true. Just under 50% of first year drivers have some kind of an accident and most people have 3-4 in their lifetime.
Wholly inconsistent itt. I suppose it doesn’t seem so with a narrow, loaded, presumptive framing like that - to say anyone who carry’s a gun does so out of gun worship and/or their inability to solve problems. There are some problems that can only be solved by having a gun unfortunately.
To be fair, it would be a complete waste of money to pay for an attorney for Ethan. He's clearly guilty.
Population wide answers don’t apply to individuals within the population. Fixing both of these problems necessitates a broad approach - not focusing on individual circumstances. There is no inconsistency. There need to be fewer guns in America and fewer people that treat them like a problem solving tool. They aren’t. They are implements of death. Period.
And you're much more likely to escalate a low level problem to a potentially lethal confrontation while armed, endangering yourself and others, than you are to be unarmed and be a victim in an already potentially lethal confrontation not of your own making. You think you're making yourself safer in the much less likely situation, and in reality making yourself less safe in the much more likely situation. And I say this as an owner of nine firearms for 25 years and the only time I ever considered carrying outside my home was during the LA riots
