I’ll do a UM-UGA Orange bowl bet, fersure. I know there are several dawgs in this thread. Have extras on Michters 10 Rye, Michters Barrel Strength Rye, ECBP C921, Old Fitz 14 year, OWA 107, Weller Single Barrel, Weller Full Proof and some others. looking for creature comforts, octane coffee, and a place to crash for Shaky Knees
I can arrange these things, the last octane closed in 2020 when it got sold off, but can check around on whats left
no :/ Sazerac left allocation to individual distributor DM’s this year and it all came at once. 1 EH Taylor 10 year Welle single Weller 12 1 WLW 1 THH 5 orvw 5 lot b 3 PVW15
I won an ORVW in the Benash lottery. Given the way ESD has unfolded, I expect to learn that it has instead been given to a college kid that was buying a suitcase of Busch Lite.
it was this bottle: https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/...raight+bourbon+whisky+kentucky+usa/1/usa-nc-y
If so, that price is about as dumb as I've seen. I still think it was probably this very similar looking bottle
Wait seriously? How the fuck did you sign up for that? When were you in the store? Two years in a row I haven’t got shit. Plus that lottery is invite only, too.
Mom lives down the street from them. Got her to move all of her spend there. Had the choice between the ORVW and Weller SiB, figured I’d take the higher secondary value bottle and trade if I wanted the Weller.
im not sure how to answer your question aside from just repeating what you’ve posted. I’m fairly certain Stellum uses some of those barrels in their bourbon blend.
Odd bottle that I’ve never seen before and “World Whiskey Society” sounds like some bullshit bourbon Illuminati type stuff. Felt like a pass but wanted to ask anyway:
gotcha yeah those are something mgp produces. I’m not aware of any NDPs using them without blending. I imagine a single barrel would be very sweet tasting. from their site: https://www.mgpingredients.com/distilled-spirits/beverage/product/bourbon/bourbon-99-corn.html
It’s been a long COVID, but I was able to pick up some purchases, and received some gifts from my Midwest Bourbon club besties. You know a couple of them so this is really their flex. visa Anison. Amazingly, these are just the highlights. #bourbonblessed
local club is doing a release this weekend. owner said that in previous years, people started camping out at around 2 AM so I figure that most of the best stuff will be gone. Any thoughts on what I should go for on this list? One bottle per person.
In no order, get me the following: Parker’s Heritage WTMK One Yamakazi 12 OFBPSiB Rye JM Cigar Blend 4R SmBLE
Any idea on age? That is the same mash bill/source as a lot of 14-16 year old Obtainium Light Whiskeys that have been increasingly common (here at least) over the last year or so.
Good point, this could be a light whiskey too. I think the difference is used barrels = light whiskey, new barrels = bourbon (with a very high percentage of corn)
I’ve admittedly never had Old Fitzgerald, but have read several lackluster reviews. Conversely, I’ve really enjoyed the two Joseph Magnus bottles I’ve tried
Sounds similar to Hooten Young. A lot of these 99% light corn whiskeys sourced from MGP and the likes. I'm not sure the $100+ is justified on most of them.
Old Fitz is hit and miss. I have had the 15 and the 8. I really enjoyed the 8 and thought the 15 was just ok. The one bottle of Cigar Blend I had was fucking fantastic.
Anyone got a real solid irish whiskey recommendation? Need to buy a bottle for my boss not trying to just grab the most expensive but something damn good
