I like Robin but she is down the of people I’ll ride with. Probably somewhere around 8-9 unless there is a class I want to take from her. I took the new Spanish instructor (Camilla) and was pleasantly surprised.
I have nothing to add but I got a one few weeks ago, and after covid kicked my ass, I’m able to use it. Worth the price. The added benefit of somebody pushing you, the leaderboard, etc. feels like I get way more out of my rides/workout than if I was pushing myself. So much easier when you have a target goal that’s easy to see in real time.
heh, have been working my way back up since November. Currently taking classes in the low to mid 8s. Clicked on a Kendall Metal ride, only 20 minutes. Had a rating in the 9s. I noped out real quick. Didn't think I'd have time to ride yesterday. Got back home from a haircut. Found out I had 40 minutes until our takeout was ready to be picked up. Jumped on for a 30 minute ride, showered, and went and got the food. So nice to have a peloton for the convenience
This will be where it pays for itself. I plan on slowly (got a punching bag and some other stuff, going to add more) to my home gym. But it saves 20 minutes alone just being in the house. It’s why the tonal isn’t such an outrageous piece of equipment, I think, eventually. Way too much at this time, but I have 2 brother-in-laws & a close friend both get rid of gym memberships and thrive during covid. They invested in their home setups and the equipment now is smaller & so good. Gives a person the option you were saying, limited time you can still do something. Even if a person keeps gym memberships it can do a ton to avoid skipping days and those extra days are going to be a huge difference.
Was also looking at those bowflex dumbbells. They're showing they are usually at 399, but are on sale for 299 currently. Might get them this weekend. Wanting the dumbbells for the strength class. Not really sure how good those classes are, but will give them a shot. Did my first power zone test and loved it. Think I'll be doing a lot more of those in the future.
Lol yeah this was just a tad outside of my range. Didn’t come close to keeping up with the resistance and cadence cues towards the end and still blew my 20 minute PR away.
i love the strength classes just be aware they aren’t geared towards heavy lifting or anything like that. Basically just constant lifting with very minimal rest. Even the “light weight” arms and shoulders are cool if you use 10-15 pound weighs. Those are are meant to be done with nothing heavier than 3 pounds so they give you zero rest. Honestly you can get a good workout in 20 minutes. I need to start stacking multiple strength workouts. I do need to get heavy weights for chest and back workouts.
honestly it’s the best thread mill I’ve ever ran on. I’m not trying to be a smartss. If you have the room for both that’s what I would do.
The one that is the best to run on you can’t get right now and not anytime soon by the sounds of it. The smaller version (which they currently sell) supposedly isn’t anywhere near the comfort.
Yeah when I was living at my mother in laws contemplating moving to my wife’s home town I bought a second one for that. Moved that to our place and sold our old one. I love it personally. Auto resistance is nice and then the swivel was a game changer. The biggest thing is the calibration which I feel I get a more accurate output with the Plus.
my bad meant the thread plus I thought you mentioned wanting the thread too. IDK if you noticed but I passed you on the monthly mileage lol
Ahh gotcha yeah we were planning to get it but then it got recalled. Should have ordered sooner haha.
Have had the Bike+ for about 3 weeks now. Really like the auto follow feature more than I thought. The speaker is wayyy better. The bigger screen is nice. Seems the calibration is more accurate. Im no longer getting beat by 40 and 50 year olds regularly. Ive read the newer bikes are more accurate now. Finally hit 300 output in a 30 minute class. Ive hit 4 PRs pretty easily and sadly will have to do an FTP test soon. I haven't done a boot camp with it yet. Overall Im happy with it if not solely for the fact I can hold more than 200w w/o getting anaerobic. The company dropping off was supposed to pick up the old one and said Peloton is fucking up things and they couldn't take it. And they couldn't pick it up in the last 2 weeks.
Yeah the bootcamp is one thing looking to getting into this year. Did a few when they came out and then just haven’t had the space once the renovation started/battling a wrist injury. Hoping the new basement space will lead to more boot camps.
Ushered in the New Year with my first 90 min ride in two years, followed by a lite upper body workout. Felt really good, rode it in the lower half of Zone 3 to make sure I finished, with a 400 watt final minute kick to clear a round number for output. Era of good feeling after the ride is over, starting to feel really tired. You really appreciate freewheeling on a real bike after riding a Peloton for 90 min where freewheeling isn't a thing.
Welp after messing my knee up, and then just being a lazy clown the past two months I’m getting back on the wagon this week. Hoping to get back to riding 5x a week like I was for the first year I owned the bike. Also hope I didn’t lose too much endurance or anything but I’m sure it’ll take sometime to get back.
Rode for the first time since early October this morning (COVID, smoked from booster, vacation, surgery). boy was a low impact ride difficult.
Anyone done the yoga classes before? I am wondering if someone has a recommendation for an instructor for someone like me that has never done a yoga class before.
Same. Jan - May last year I killed it and lost 30 lbs. I’ve put back 15 of that. Time to get back on the bike and for another 30lbs down.
I’m thinking about just doing the beginner program again to get back into it. The very few times I’ve rode over the last couple months sucked and I was uncomfortable with numbness on the bike. So think I’ll take it back to basics to start.
Same here. I need to get better at diet and incorporating strength workouts. I can ride 5x a week and not budge on the scale due to bad eating.
I was actually thinking about doing some beginner rides or at least low impact ones for the first week to get used to it again. I really liked doing the PZ rides but with minimal time out of saddle I figured it could be tough to just dive back in haha
I really liked having the structure of the beginners program. Once it ended I found it harder to stay motivated. I choose my classes now based off time and music genre. Think I may take the beginners course again, but push harder than their recommendations.
What’s everyone week look like with workouts? Trying to find a good balance between strength and rides right now. I’m thinking rides every other day and strength classes in between. Hoping to do that for 6 days out of the week.
I started the power zone training. I don’t think my numbers were right. That’s about where/when I fell off.
I like Aditi. Dennis is good. On the peloton Reddit there is a real good write up on the instructors and their styles.
when? How would we do it? Not a huge Christine fan but I don’t hate her and I need to do some longer classes. If we could figure out a way to do it I’d be down.
I just attack it with common sense. I add 5-20 minute core and strength workouts onto my bike days. And then I will aim to take about 1-2 days off a week with the bike. Use at least one of those for a longer strength workout.
imo, no. I already owned appropriate workout gear, a water bottle that fit in the holder, and plenty of towels.
From the site, no. Technically you can get shoes elsewhere too, but I’ve had no issues with my shoes. The weights are nice, but I don’t use them much cause my ceiling is too low and I can’t extend my arms up, lol. make sure you have towels, a fan, a water bottle or two, might need a pad depending on the surface the bike is on.
I try and workout 6 days a week. Ride and lift 4-5 days a couple recovery days and one completely day off for rest. I’ll probably ride and lift Monday and Tuesday then recovery ride and maybe lite lift or yoga on Wednesday lift and ride Thursday and Friday long ride no lift Saturday and take Sunday off and just stretch or do a recovery yoga. I try and stretch 15 minutes a day and do the message gun a couple times a week. Recovery rides stretching and the gun have helped me be able to ride more often workout being sore.
