Not sure on tiebreakers Would be 8/9-11/12 range with a loss depending on results for Seahawks and Falcons. Right now 12-14 range. As high as 11 if Falcons win. As low as 16 if Saints and Dolphins lose
If we end up in the 10-14 range, do you think about taking a QB if someone like Pickett falls out of the top 10? Or try to somehow get another veteran?
I had never really studied Stefanski’s background until the last few weeks. My takeaway was - no wonder this team looks like a disorganized mess he was an OC for 1 full season, in 2019 he took over in Dec of 2018 when the Vikings OC was fired, he was a QB and TE coach historically Vikings went 10-6 in 2019, finished 2nd in division Cousins threw for 3300 yds, 26 TDs and 6 INTs in 2019 (mirror image of Baker’s 2020) Cook ran for 1100 yds, Diggs had 1100 yds certainly not some juggernaut on offense but, one year as an OC????? if you look at Matt Nagy’s career it’s identical
I think he needs to fire AVP and hire a playcalling OC and focus on being the HC instead. I think he's built a strong culture but he's taking on too much.
Sounds like they're gonna ride another year with Baker. Need to get at least 2 WR's and help at DT. I think we'd be foolish to not take a WR in the first.
This was Nagy’s achilles, he could never give up playcalling. I agree with you though. I do not think he has built a strong culture based on what we witnessed this year - and this is kind of my point, not sure he knows how to?
they have to get someone who can compete with Baker since it sounds like he is going to be back I would be shocked if they ID a college QB they think can take over right away or that they are willing to pay load up on surrounding talent - really need to find a dynamic WR and more athletes on D
Did a quick PFF 7 Rounder Garret Wilson, WR Ohio State Lewis Cine, S Georgia Jake Ferguson, TE Wisconsin Rasheed Walker, OT PSU Cameron Thomas, DE SDSU Josh Jobe, CB Alabama Jordan Williams, DT Virginia Tech Jaylon Robinson, WR UCF
Question: If they took Wilson with the first pick and Bell/Dotson were sitting there in the second round, would you be open to going WR again?
Looks pretty balanced or leans to easy imo Teams w/ good QB situations - NE, BAL, CIN, LAC, TB, BUF Teams w/ QB questions - NYJ, PIT, HOU, MIA, NO, WSH, CAR, ATL
Only 1 out of 6 non-division road games made the playoffs? Best team (TB) would be probably fairly mediocre if Brady retires? Doesn't seem too bad to me...
this is a good way to look at it now where does Cleveland fall in those groups? That tells you how easy it hard the schedule will be IMO
I've been on Baker's side even through this season, but we need to get a much better QB in order to compete in the AFC.
Just playing devils advocate a bit, we’ve played KC each of the last two years and led for most of the game each time. Obviously that’s different than actually winning but I’m not seeing a ton of great options in the open market for an upgrade at QB. I’m all for drafting some competition or signing a mid-level free agent, but people like Jimmy G or Cousins don’t provide much of an upgrade and the cost of Watson or Wilson is going to be insane, aside from the fact that neither wants to come here.
Not to play Devils' Advocate Advocate, but in retrospect, both of those Chiefs games were kind of the Chiefs playing with their food for three quarters before completely shutting us down. We've literally played a half dozen 'close epic games' it feels like, and haven't won like any of them (Chargers this year, Chiefs both years, Ravens last year, etc. etc.). I don't know if it's coaching, Baker, or both, but three seasons to prove something is a lot more than a lot of replacement level QBs get, so if we can get a Jimmy G or a Cousins, I'd consider it an upgrade and see where we go.
Cleveland needs help at QB, WR, TE, DL and LB and I would even draft depth in the secondary and OL with how injury prone those groups have been. My point - this roster with Deshaun Watson wasn’t beating either of those teams playing the way they were yesterday.
Also, someone close to Baker needs to tell him to STFU heard he was throwing darts at the Cleveland media this weekend? That dude should not be seen or heard until fucking training camp
cousins is just an older, more expensive version of baker. and i haven't seen anything to suggest jimmy g is even as good as mayfield, let alone better. SF is winning despite his play. if we can't make a play for a serious qb like russell wilson, we're better off running it back one last time with mayfield. the shoulder injury pretty much rendered this season a wash. with better injury luck, we're back in the playoffs next season, though i have serious doubts that mayfield is capable of playing at a level close to what we saw yesterday
Any talk of moving on from Baker is pretty much pointless. Unless a stud QB is offered to Cleveland for peanuts or wants to come to Cleveland for an extreme discount, Baker will be our QB in 2022. He is cheap (still on his rookie contract) and the FO needs to see him healthy to know for sure whether he is our guy or we need to move on. As far as the draft and FA, Berry has made a position/unit a priority each season and has done a great job of improving said position/unit...WR has to be that position/unit this off-season. We need to give Baker some weapons...period. We have no WR's who can separate; win 50/50 balls; are difference makers. I'm so jealous of the Bengals duo, Chase and Higgins. Cupp is a stud and Odell is thriving as a #2 in LA. The Bills WR's are really helping Allen and obviously SF has Deebo. We have nothing at WR. Literally Nothing. Burkes would be my priority in the draft, with Wilson being my 2nd option. I saw the question, would I take a potential stud at WR in the 2nd too? Sure. Our corp stinks. We need all the WR's we can get.
Say we go WR in the first round, how do you rank the 1st round talents? Personally I’d go: 1. Garrett Wilson 2. Treylon Burks 3. Chris Olave 4. David Bell 5. Jameson Williams 6. Drake London 7. Jahan Dotson
Burks Williams Wilson Olave/London Dotson The caveat here is that they are all healthy. With Williams torn ACL, I’d be very happy to get out of the first round with either Burks or Wilson. My dream scenario would be to get one of them with our first pick, then trade back up late in the first and get Williams at a bargain price. That would completely revamp our wide receiving corps.
I think it’s more likely Cleveland signs a WR and drafts one as well as opposed to going WR in rd 1/2 my rankings Wilson Jameson Burks
I agree with a lot of this but what more do we need to see from Baker? Its been four years, he is what he is. If he's the best option for next year so be it but he's not the long term solution imo.
This is a pretty good wr class and he's at a disadvantage by playing with a shit QB. He's good but I wouldn't take him at 13
Agreed. I don't know that I would pick him at 13 but I wouldn't have an issue if we traded back a little and picked him in the top 20. I don't know enough about London but I wouldn't really have an issue with picking him, Wilson, or Burks at 13. Wilson is who I would prefer most followed by Burks. Olave is someone that we could probably trade back for too. I didn't want Williams at 13 without the injury. I definitely would hesitate picking him now in the top 25.
Skip WR in the first. Too much WR depth in draft. WR notoriously hard to project. No alpha WR in this class. Improve the team with the 13th pick, then go WR.
