The agency alleges male employees play video games during the workday while delegating responsibilities to female employees, engage in sexual banter, and joke openly about rape, among other things. Female employees allege being held back from promotions because of the possibility they might become pregnant, being criticized for leaving to pick their children up from daycare, and being kicked out of lactation rooms so male colleagues could use the room for meetings, the complaint says. Female employees working for the World of Warcraft team noted that male employees and supervisors would hit on them, make derogatory comments about rape, and otherwise engage in demeaning behavior, the agency alleges. The suit also points to a female Activision employee who took her own life while on a company trip with her male supervisor. The employee had been subjected to intense sexual harassment prior to her death, including having nude photos passed around at a company holiday party, the complaint says.
https://aboutblaw.com/YJw Full suit Have to imagine Twitch and other tech/gaming companies are up to the plate next for this type of suit
this is a two year investigation and it's the goddamn state coming after them, Activision is going to get torched over this and a whooooooooole bunch of upper-level management at Blizzard are working on their CVs right now. there's been rumors about how shitty Blizzard has been to work at for a solid decade or so, glad to see this all being brought to the surface.
Not shocking at all. Industry has had some brutal stuff happen and I bet this is common. Hate to stereotype, but a bunch of guys who had bad luck with girls growing up get a little cash and authority and they act like fucking shit bag pervs.
Ya plus they specifically haven't put out a good game in almost 15 years. Whole industry has just been churning out trash lately
Smaller studios seem to be making the best games. Then once one is a hit they get bought by the bigger ones.
Yeah, looking at what we historically know about gamers, not tough to think the people who make them being just as awful, and I game from time to time.
this story is upsetting and probably very typical and i'm glad there'll hopefully be some justice but can someone tell me why, "the male employee was found by police to have brought a butt plug and lubricant on this business trip" is part of the lawsuit? it seems like it's needlessly scandalous and has nothing to do with any of the allegations.
I took that, combined with the suicide being described as "due to" the sexual relationship, as a pretty clear implication that they have reason to believe the supervisor was forcing/pressuring her into acts she wouldn't have "consented" to if not for the supervisor/employee relationship and that suggesting/using those items may have triggered her suicide.

this isn't a gamer thing anyway, the gamer incel stereotype you're referring to is too scared to treat women like this unless they're shielded behind the anonymity of a monitor. this is purely a power issue which is why this stuff happening is so difficult to stop, because it infests every possible avenue and outlet. name any major industry and there is undoubtedly a sexual harassment issue at the core of it.
The allegations are awful but part of me is happy this organization that has made mistake after mistake with call of duty is getting its comeuppance. Just a truly terrible organization that has ruined a one time great game. Not surprised it’s ran like a frat house
I know a (now former per LinkedIn) HR team member for them. He didn’t seem the type to do this, but he seemed the type to not actually do anything about it.
I’m shocked, I tell you, absolutely shocked that this type of behavior is coming from a building full of incels.
I'm pretty sure this toxic masculinity scandal goes as far up as the CEO, and as far down as every single COD player
No shit But what we really want to know is how it affects Overwatch 2 and if there is a god, we can only hope he keeps it out of whichever ea hands that do battlefield
Supposedly over $70 billion - but Microsoft does have like $140 billion in cash on hand or something absurd like that.
Interesting - was literally just watching it and they said possibly in excess of $70 billion. But what's a couple billion amongst friends and/or reporters, lol.
