I read something a few months ago that said Warzone alone was pulling in $5 mil per day Plus they release a $60 game every year that people religiously buy. And that's just Call of Duty. I have no concept of what things are worth when they get into these giant numbers but somehow that seems... low?
My thinkorswim says $95 share price for the sale so that would be like $73 billion depending on how it's structured.
Microsoft bought Bethesda in 2020 for $7 billion, the biggest gaming acquisition in history happened like two weeks ago when Take Two bought Zynga I think for $12 billion, this is 6 times bigger than the biggest deal previous in this space.
TikTok has ruined me because my instant reaction was “Sun up, I put on my jewelry just to go to the bodega.”
I almost ruined family Easter last weekend. My BIL said he might have a new job by a date in May. Someone asked where he was interviewing and he said two places, a second round with Activision Blizzard and a second place I missed because I busted out laughing.
esports isn’t streaming They’re pros at video games not some guy that mooches off mommy and daddy and streams for 5 hours a day to call a job
Why the hate for streamers? I enjoy a few as background noise. The lifestyle people just talking aren't my thing but watching some guy play a game at a high level is aight to me. It's free so .
For a lot of the organizations, maybe. But optic has such a ridiculous following I’m sure it was worth it.
Briefly reading the article and not really knowing anything about eSports, these guys seem to have a valid point. Not being able to monetize outside of the league is really shitty.
They were absolutely railroaded into submission by activision. Not being a part of the CDL would’ve been a death sentence for the brand. The organization with the most championships and the most responsible for the growth of the scene. This was before the first CDL game
Some of them do when they get bored but a lot of them don’t stream much if at all They make enough from their prizing that they don’t need the $ from streaming
Yeah they will and it’s gonna be such a shitty pill for them and the rest of us waiting for activision to get what they’ve earned. What activision did to them and every other org is without a doubt shitty and awful but they pretty much did what they were allowed to do. that being said, ballsy as fuck for Scump and Hecz to take this on.
Well i think that’s why they are suing. Optic is the only real valuable organization when it comes to cod and i guess they are being severely limited by the terms activision has set. Activision created a terrible league for sure and has shit all over these teams and players I just don’t know if there is actually a lawsuit here.
