Ngannou displaying a modestly effective ground game makes the idea of a Francis-Jones matchup even more exciting.

Last night also cemented my opinion that Jon would work Gane. Jones is 5x the grappler Francis is, he’d absolutely wrestlefuck the hell out of Gane.

Francis is going to need time to rehab that knee, and Jon needs straight up rehab. Dana can give these guys close to a year to get right and make a mega fight with the last bout on Francis’ current contract.

Dana’s petty ass would just strip him of the title and make Jones-Stipe/Gane for vacant title.

Even with the decisive win, Francis still isn’t a huge draw and thus has little leverage here.

Gane is way stronger than Jones, and if Jon puts on a lot of muscle for HW, he won’t move as fluid as he does at 205.

Jon lost to Don Reyes in most eyes, he isn’t working one of the top HW’s in the world.

 

Jones hasn't fought in 2 years and would be going way up in weight. No clue what to expect from him but I would bet on Gane or Francis against him.
