wimbush was qb5, lets be fair we know the difference between wimbush as a prospect and clausen as a prospect
I watched Vizzina's tape recently and like it A LOT...I had no idea he would be that mobile I think I said it before, he's Coan with a stronger arm and mobility and Coan as a passer this year (outside of his long passes) was very very good. It was his lack of mobility that killed us
ow i dont think Vizzina would be a failure by any means, but I think Vizzy could get the team to the playoffs if he works out, Moore might win ND a natty, or to put it differently, i think ND needs top3 QB play in the nation to win a natty, not "just" top 10
Here's the difference...Vizzina is a lot closer to Moore than he is a recruit like Angeli. He's a top 100 player with offers from Clemson, Georgia, USC, etc. He's not exactly settling like years past. If the danger of turning him away to wait is that you end up with neither, you can make a strong argument that you take him if he commits first.
These aren't fungible talents that you just take whichever one you can. There should be some level of scouting where preferences show up. Every year there are top 10 qb's that end up sucking
Now, if you are considering the idea of a highly ranked QB having the additional benefit of attracting other players then sure
I watched Vizz and Moore today. My thoughts (had plenty of time as my 2nd day of PD) Vizz Positives Big/strong Great feet/ball mechanics in pocket Faster than I expected-opponents look slow and small so not sure how fast really is Intermediate accuracy Negatives Looks a little stiff-worry about throwing off platform Not a strong arm Deep ball accuracy Moore Quick decision maker-RPO Off platform throws Ability to make plays Off script Accuracy-all over the field Negatives Smaller than Vizz Poor footwork in pocket A little loose with the ball in pocket I'll say the Moore issues are more fixable IMO. So I can firmly say I'd prefer Moore
So are you insinuating that the coaches have done no scouting? I'd assume the offer to Vizzina came from their own scouting, and not a website ranking. It's not like he was just offered. Sure, ranked kids bust, but the ranking and offers would indicate that some successful coaches seem to agree that he he's expected to be pretty good, no? They also at least provide circumstantial evidence that taking him would be very far from settling.
Now I'm 100% in favor of Moore, but if Vizzina wants in this spring I think they have to have an honest talk with Moore to find out where things stand. If they aren't pretty damned sure about him, you take the top 100 QB with offers from two of the most recent national champions.
I think Moore is the best QB in a loaded class (1.Moore, 2.Nico, 3.Nelson) but Vizzina is so damn good I don't know if we could slow play him while waiting for Moore. Moore just needs to commit and we don't have to worry about anything.
I think I have the solution, take them both. The first one to win the job gets the first year and the other one redshirts. second year Nd redshirts the guy that won the job the year before and let the other guy be qb1 for a year. Third year you go with a rock paper scissor (4 out of 7) so it’s legit and the winner gets the job, the loser transfers to usc to get some intel. Obviously the winner of the rock paper scissor plays the whole year and gets picked 1st overall Fourth year the sc spy transfers back You just need to sell both of these guys on that plan, should not be too difficult
It will be crazy, the situation with rees being such a hot name will make this qb chase a wild one. If he bolts after next year all bets are off
Isn't Vizzina the guy who will go to Bama the second they offer? Seems like a risk to scare Moore off for him if it's that easy to lose him.
yes, and it sure feels good to be talking about elite/top 100 level players like Dante/Vizz/Jason Moore/M'Pemba/Greathouse/Braylon James instead of lower guys like we would have been under BK because he just didn't care about recruiting when this cycle first got started, we were totally screwed if we didn't get Carnell Tate Now, if we land Braylon James/Gallager/Rico Flores, that's a REALLY good WR class still. Don't get me wrong, I want Tate more than any of those 3 guys I just listed, but we can go to war with those 3 guys in the class combined w/ Merriweather from last class
Play it exactly like you did with Buchner/McCarthy Set the Vizzina visit (already done) and let Moore know you’re going to take him if he makes the visit and wants in
it’s well known that vizzina is a huge risk of going to bama if they ever offer it’s not really about being frightened but knowing the situation. It’s such a tough situation to handle for the coaches
Nd fans on message boards are the number one source of information in this world friend You might be right, it’s just something that I have heard on a podcast. D3 is using propaganda now
I've listened to most of his podcasts. I've never heard some say that as a well known fact. I can see where it's a risk, but Bama has some big targets ahead of him.
it’s sad really. I used to be a member. Wiltfong was good, driskell was working there. sometimes one of the other guy can make a good point but they are not very good at expressing themselves. Frank is ridiculous, same shit over and over. ‘You gotta run the ball’ ‘Nd needs to get on kids sooner’ rinse and repeat
« I used to be a member » i know, I unsubscribed a long time ago. If you meant unsubscribe from the pod, I still like to listen. It’s not like I concentrate on it, i listen to it while cooking, working or cleaning the house.
While the bowl game tempered my expectations with lack of aggressiveness, creativity and in-game adjustments (yeah, that’s actually quite a lot), can you imagine the LSU fan base if ND bests them in both the recruiting rankings and records in 2022?
