Does that mean they can break their leases with Russia and release as they see fit (easier said than done I know)
I am not a doctor, but I don't think it really will. At least not immediately. Most of this stuff affects the oligarchs. Of course, currency devalutation will screw them.
Russia effectively will not be able to pay for foreign goods or be able to sell their goods. Their money will drop like a rock. A loaf of bread that costs 5 rubles last week, will probably double, triple in cost in the coming weeks, months ect.
well the actions have already caused massive bank runs and most banks running out of rubles, so Id say it does affect stuff straight away, basically its all about eroding public support and a few russian athletes like that tennisser speaking up is massive for that as well.
There’s most certainly a war clause which allows AER to take back the planes. Leasing them up will be the hard part.
Imagine if tomorrow you woke up and everything was 20% more expensive. That's what's going to be happening in Russia. That's just Day 1, and it will get higher and higher. After that, supplies of most consumer goods from outside of the country will slowly dwindle and disappear. Tough luck if you want to get out of the country because airplanes aren't going to be allowed in most countries.
yeah I guess force majeure would apply here, I wonder if there is a mechanism for them to request frozen Russian funds
IDK what Ukraine’s current Air Force situation looks like but this seems like a target rich environment for them
the fact Berdyansk had not been captured up to this point is an indictment on Russia's sloppiness thus far
Some shortages of service industry workers in Eastern Europe apparently, particularly bus drivers. All gone back to Ukraine to fight.
If Americans are any indication of how sanely ppl react to price increases that the public ought to know the source of, then this should go swimmingly.
The war is anything but over right now. the fact no one learned from the US and its failings against a modern day urban assault/occupation is mind boggling. the continued asshat-ery of political grifters and mouth pieces from the US is pathetic. The constant need to make every worldwide event into an American-centric political issue is exhausting.
he’s turning Russia into a third world country in real time right in front of our eyes. It’s actually remarkable.
Sorry if this has been posted but apparently during an emergency EU summit Thursday night there were a few key hold outs on the SWIFT sanctions. But Zelensky teleconferenced in and made an appeal which left everyone teary eyed and united on the more imposing measures.
I hope Putin comes to his senses. His people who mostly aren’t deserving of this will be hurting bad. Strong possibility of famine conditions like we’ve seen in Iran and Venezuela when we’ve done similar things to cut them off
Even in this thread there are some weird USA centric subject changes. USA/Biden has done some good things in this but acting like other European nations stepping up isn’t the A story is evidence of the USA propaganda machine.
Speaking of planes, haven’t seen any reports of su-57s assuming that’s so one Does not get shot down and captured? although there’s like 10 that exist, right?
They wouldn’t be sending fighter jets, even if hand me downs that are phased out, if they thought this was going to be over soon
Idk who's saying that; btw, the actual A-story is the courage and bravery of the Ukrainians, followed closely by the worldwide (not just Europe) instant action taken against Russia and the Russian citizens themselves risking God knows what to stand up to a dictator.
Agitprop doing an amazing job turning resistance libs into neocons. MFs talking about regime change in Russia JFC.
