This is a guy I follow from Australia (I think) and he’s posted this snake that lives at his place twice now. This is crazy that he just coexists with this monster
His profile says he’s from Texas, which would make a little more sense. If he’s in Australia, there’s (figuratively) a 90% chance the snake is venomous. I’m all for non-venomous pest control, but a man’s gotta draw the line somewhere.
Yep, clearly non-venomous. But still far from tame and nothing stopping it from paying the guy a visit while he's sleeping.
Venomous Snake Bites Man After Being Sealed In Bottle For A Year By Jason Hall March 18, 2022 China Times that he'd purchased three bottles of snake wine -- which has real snakes soaking inside of them -- and waited a year before opening a bottle to use as a remedy for his son who had gotten ill, WhiskeyRaiders.com reports. The man described the incident as the snake coming "back to life," but the reptile commonly enters a dormant state to survive harsh environments for several years and apparently jars of the medicinal wine cannot be completely sealed, so a small amount of air is capable of entering. A similar incident reportedly took place in China in 2013 when a woman was bitten after waiting three months to open her bottle of snake wine and poured it into more wine, with the snake leaping out of the bottle and biting her. Several other similar snake bite incidents related to snake wine are reported to have taken place in China between 2001 and 2009. Snakes are commonly used in medicinal wine as they're believed to have medicinal qualities and snake wine is advertised as an aid for varying medical issues such as hair loss, vision issues and erectile dysfunction, among others.
They’re actually very slightly venomous right? But incapable of piercing skin maybe? We find them all over our yard in N FL. Usually only a few inches long. Ive always figured they’re a distant relative of coral snakes but curious to hear what you know about them…
Indigos are my dream snake. Also Holy shit, had no idea snakes could go into a dormant. The Asian cultures really Needs to get their heads out of their ass with all the rare animal/medicinal cures thing.
You may well be right - certainly a Brown and big enough to a King. Don't fuck with Brown Snakes - just don't.
This is nuts. They selectively breed snakes to produce 3-7x more venom than snakes in the wild for anti-venom.
Learned recently that people in that profession(no idea if all but at least a good amount) inject diluted venom into their system to build up a tolerance because there’s no way they can do it without eventually being bit That guy is maybe the world’s most famous venom extractor, can just look at his face and see he’s been through it
Ray Hunter and Albert Killian are 2 big ones in Florida, the latter claims he’s taken like 50 venomous bites Edit: actually says over 100

There’s probably a ton of people like him throughout the country. Not against people owning venomous but let’s just keep black mambas in Africa.
My fear of snakes honestly would prevent me from going into someone’s house if they owned a venomous one.
I don't think I trust other human beings enough to be completely confident that they know what they're doing. "Huh, that's weird - this container's empty..." Yeah, no, screw that.
