It sounds like Dan Gilbert, who owns the Cavs, is getting involved with the Ricketts bid. I doubt it would come to this or if such a move is even possible but I wonder what kind of power the CPO has with the revoking the club's ability to rent the freehold/use the name if the Ricketts were chosen.
I'll say this, as a Cavs fan, Gilbert likes winning and isn't afraid to spend money. He was deep into the luxury tax to get that Championship with LBJ and crew.
Bruce Buck is aiding them which is probably helping to keep them afloat. It will be a nightmare if they are the buyer.
OK, explain this to me like I'm 5. The dad, who isn't involved in the purchase, at one point sent an email saying "muslims are his enemy". So that email, has created all of this controversy on the entire family being racist and somehow being a bad purchaser of the club? I admit, I have not done any more digging and reading on the subject, so I am sure I must be missing something on why they are such a bad option. That can't possibly be it. But again, I'm probably missing a lot here. So please, somebody please explain to me like I'm 5 why they are such a bad option. I'll hang up and listen. Thanks.
if I were a Chelsea fan, I'd be against the Ricketts family because of how they've run the Cubs and the whole family likely is a bunch of shittier human beings (see: Joe and Pete Ricketts) than the other candidates.
I think it's less about the comments and more they've demonstrated they are shitty owners of the Cubs, have history with Raine and appear to have been given preferential treatment, and everyone involved in the bid sucks - especially Ken Griffin who is also a shit tier human being.
Ricketts will use the club for profit purposes. Unfortunately they seem to have an in with Raine and they keep getting chance after chance to improve their bid. Still hope its Boehly

Its a cynical point of view but I tend to agree the noise against the Ricketts wouldn’t be nearly as loud if they weren’t also viewed as bad owners. The racism stuff is just window dressing and would be swept under the rug if they were seen as an owner who would funnel in endless money.
