Googling Vic Weiss has led me to the conclusion that UNLV threw the game against duke in 1990 leading to Coach K’s first title. Fuck the mob for what the next thirty years brought because of that.
agreed. Just finished and it was fantastic. How many EPS is this? I feel like it might be multiple seasons with them not even starting the season yet. Riley wasn’t their coach until they fired their current assistant as the HC, Paul Westhead after the title in year1. Not sure what happens with McKinney(don’t spoil)
The camera holding on him underwater after he jumps in was a fun wink to the pool scene in "Boogie Nights".
the first episode was by far the worst, glad it's picked up steam and chilled out with the super aggressive filming/editing choices
Enjoyed this episode touched on a lot of themes in the Kareem doc that HBO did, which was a very good watch
AVON BARKSDALE BACK ON HBO Enjoyed the Reagan “Make America Great Again” newspaper clip I did not know that Kareem’s pops was a pig Also McKinney should have worn a helmet
I enjoyed the World B Free shoutout and I knew the second I saw Bryant on a jersey that they would shoehorn a Kobe mention
i also read his wiki a week or two ago, so knew it was coming and couldn’t bear to watch they also built it up well, by demonstrating that he was finally accomplishing what he set out to do :(
They did a really good job of setting up what I THOUGHT was going to happen, and then it was that instead lol
100% believable as a coach. Will be interesting to see how Westhead gets to where it eventually ends up with him because Segel is playing him as a nice, soft spoken guy so far.
Finally caught up. I'm not even a basketball fan, but this show is great. Had no idea all this stuff that went down the year Magic was drafted.
god the actor they got to play Bird looks every bit of Indians hilljack as Bird does or what I imagine AHebrewToo looks like
I'm honestly amazed watching this that nobody tried to do it sooner. The pitch meeting for this must've been crazy.
The show runner was on Russillo's pod and he said they tried to pitch for almost a decade but no one would touch it because they didnt think you would find believable actors to play Magic and Kareem
yeah they absolutely nailed the casting there. love the show, but wish they would tone down breaking the fourth wall thing. It's cheesy and unnecessary. Show still remains very entertaining in spite of it. I love that they covers tons of aspects of the characters lives and it's not just restricted to the major basketball moments.
The look of the show is awesome. Was talking to a cinematographer the other day about how they switch between different film types during scenes. Gives you that 80's broadcast feel but then they'll go back to a traditional camera.
Yes I’m aware that wasnt the real Jack but I will say if I were to cast an actor to play Jack it would be Christian Slater
haha! Of course. I wasn’t saying you thought it was the real jack. Mrs Titties and I both had a “holy shit! That’s Christian slater” moment last night during the jack scene
I feel like HBO has put a lot of money into this show. Looking at the cast and even the cameos…. Insane
